Engine End Plate
Do you need to install the metal end plate that goes between the engine and transmission? What does it do other than offer an earthing location? I'm not actually sure it actually seals the transmission housing except around the starter motor.

you answered your own quesion. Would you like your flywheel and clutch unsealed and easily exposed to the elements?madjak wrote:Do you need to install the metal end plate that goes between the engine and transmission? But to be honest. I'd hazard a guess that because the block and the gearbox are made from different materials but are strongly bolted together. The plate probalt also serves as a medium between the two due to heat expansion.

Re: Engine End Plate
I believe not having it installed can also cause issues with clutch travel, as the plate changes the distance the fork travels to disengage the clutch.

Re: Engine End Plate
I actually sourced one from a local club member...
I decided that it wasn't worth testing to see what issues it may / may not cause. I hate dropping the transmission off the engine, it's a mission!
