Got an email today from one of the good guys on the VWWatercooled forums who is looking to set up a short track event at Lakeside.
I'm organising some short track events next year at the Driver Training Centre up at Lakeside. I wanted to see if you and the MX5 guys were interested in coming along. I'm negotiating terms and costs with Queensland Raceways now and should have more info next week.
Here is a link to my post on vwwatercooled.com.au http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f21/eoi-short-track-timed-event-s-lakeside-101254.html
Any takers? I can vouch for the guy organising - like the rest of us, he's a car nerd - and I'd be keen to go and play with some modified VWs to see how we stack up!

Sure. All dependent on timing!

The video in that thread of the Caterham Seven looked like fun! Could be interested in this pending further details. I've been looking to get on a track!

That video of the Clubman was at one of the Lotus club short track days, they did 3 this year and there's 4 planned for next year. They're fun, pretty hard to get it wrong badly enough to do any damage. They run 45-60 cars per event, most cars are doing 53-58sec runs, with a break for lunch and allowing for timing delays, you normally get 6-7 runs per car, so not a lot of track time. It's fun, but more social than anything since you spend most of your day just waiting. Definitely worth the $75 they charge for entry.

Looks like a great day and IMO the VW Watercooled guys are very friendly and helpful. I suspect there is a few of us on here!
If you have both it would be a great opportunity to get your whiz bang golf and mx5 on the track at the same time, wife, partner or friend to drive one
