Tyre Pressure Guage Recommendation

Just did my first MX5 Sprint day at Sandown on Sunday. I now truly understand the importance of monitoring and adjusting tyre pressure throughout the day. (The less said about that the better :wink:

). Needless to say I threw my cheap pressure gauge away and borrowed a good one off one of the other club members.

Has anyone purchased a decent quality gauge recently? i.e. one that takes pressure also as you are letting it out.

How much did you pay and where did you get it from?
(I forgot to ask the guys at the track).

Do you get a GT3 Porsche with it?

I've had a $16 Supercheap dial gauge for years. It's been dropped about 500 times and still reads quickly and consistently.

It is red and does tyre temps as well as stores both pressure and temps :mrgreen:

I have decided that I'm not allowed to visit Racer Industries anymore as there are so many things to buy that are shinny, red and needed.

I have the same one, not quite dropped as often but works fine.

I might also add that I've had 3 or 4 cheap digital ones and I really really dislike them as track gauges. Pencil style gauges are mostly too erratic. Dial gauge is the way to go.

I have the poverty pack long acre one. Analog dial with a foot long hose. Think I paid about $40 for it two years ago?

Thanks. I had a pencil one, but it was dodgy. I think a gauge and hose type sounds the go.

I've used a base spec long acre gauge for many years. Only trap with the longacre gauges is to make sure you get the correct scale that will suit you better. I have a 0-40 lb gauge but you maybe better off with a 0-60 lb gauge. Also get the biggest face you can, makes it easier to read and you can accurately get down to half lb, which if you are getting really serious can make a difference.

get one with a button to bleed air out

The bigger the dial, the easier it is to read, doesn't have to be massive though. Plenty of options...

I prefer the ones with a little hose. makes it fractionally easier to check and adjust pressure with the valve in different locations.
