Rear number plate lights

Postby simie2014 » Fri Nov 21, 2014 4:35 pm

Hi guys. Can anyone tell me if the rear numberplate lights have to be bought as a whole unit? Perhaps the globe comes out? If I have to buy whole unit is there another Mazda unit that fits? Mx5 parts are proving to be expensive. $365 for battery from Mazda dealer... $250 from Battery World. I know they're special but ouch!

The globe comes out but you have to take the light out to replace the globe. If you have a look at the light you can see it has an arrow on it. Push the light in the direction the arrow points and it should come out, but the plastic is brittle and there's a good chance you will break the light getting it out anyway. Good luck.

I have replaced mine with LED's, purchased from JAYCAR for about $2.00 each.
