DIY Door Cards

Did this today. Ended up using a foam rubber underlay instead of the other stuff. 3mm thick and feels a bit better. Stapled the fabric along the back, turned out ok. A few crinkles in the fabric around door handle but that's it. I'm happy to have doors again!

Neer get used to term "door card" - i guess it must be a US expression- it was always known as a door trim in Aust

I guess the first photo is of the unfinished door trim i.e only with underlay. A standard foam will do the job perfectly well- though I guess a composite foam is ok - and covered by a vinyl coated fabric / vinyl of suitable colour and texture. The idea of a vinyl trim is for ease of cleaning and its excellent durability.

Re the question about acrylic probably die cut panel or laser cut etc . This should be ok - assume that it foam / vinyl sticks ok . You might like to check if the price is end cost or whether there is freight as well.

The CM naked door cards would be good for a durable, resilient material as well as being cut exactly to size and inclusive of the clips. I was considering using perspex or some other plastic material but it was quite expensive compared to MDF, so less friendly towards trial and error.

Is that like a waterproof plastic? How much would it cost to get it in Australia?

acrylic is the plastic that is commonly used to make lenses e.g. rear combination lamps. In my opinion the wrong material for a door trim- expensive and achieves what?
