Used to but not anymore. After a while people stopped waving back. Eventually things changed and I'd get condescending stares from other drivers. Now I don't even bother.

Being newish to mx5,'s I wave at all I see. I find NA's give best response followed close by NB's. NC are sadly poor wavers. I waved Saturday to a black NB in box hill got an enthusiastic response.

I agree - the response isn't like what it was years back. Only about one if four are waving back nowadays.

I think the majority of NC drivers are not enthusiasts so I wouldn't bother.

I was down Melbourne way on Friday and saw a few and waved. Didn't get one back felt like it was a pointless thing to do.

I always wave. Riding my BMW motorcycle Harley Davidson riders never wave, my son's theory is that they are to scared to let go of the bar for fear of everything falling to pieces.
Josh,
People don't wave back, so you don't wave and then people wave and you don't wave back. WTF?
If I can put a smile on one kids face for the cost of a wave.
Greg.

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

I have four Grandchildren, two boys and the influence generated by the PIXAR 'CARS' films is amazing, but I still get a lot of ZOOM ZOOM comment from kids.

In my area (western Sydney) all the mx5 drivers I see about are usually half way out of the window to show their excitement at seeing another 5 on the road. I know I'm one of them haha.

Always wave, whether the others wave or not.
Normally it's women who don't wave back (except Sheila) on the LNS of Sydney but many of us do

Harley Riders are not allowed to wave - it voids their warranty!

Re: Do you wave at other MX5s?
We have our weekend coffee meets every Saturday and Sunday morning up this way - regardless of whether there is one or eight of us ined up always people walk up to check them out, ask questions and especially the little kids who stand in awe!! Always nice to let mum or dad pop them in the drivers seat for a pic - kids don't forget experiences like that
I don't mind lifting the bonnet so they can check the car, we point out the different models [JBT has the honour of being the ONLY NC to come in over 19 months and he did that WITHOUT a cardigan!!]

Re: Do you wave at other MX5s?
I always give a wave whenever I see another MX5. I'm sure it drives my girlfriend nuts because I always call out "there's one" as I'm diving halfway out the window - I do the same in my daily driver as well, it's a Jimny so they're not too common either.
