NA6 Turbo Fuel Pump

Hey guys,

I've been doing some research on a few forums and still haven't convinced myself with a definitive answer. Which fuel pump is going to best suit my build?

I've looked at both the Walbro 190 and 255 and read the 255 seems to be overkill on the little 1.6L. I will also be adding a fuel pressure regulator into the mix.

Rough specs on my build are:
-Standard 1.6L with a disco potato
-500cc RC injectors
-Adaptronic e420c
-Toyota COPS
-Pump98
-Aiming for 150-160rwkw

255 but the bloody things are noisy.

I think Dann has mentioned this several times, but the standard pump can handle a decent amount of power.
I went with the 255, but that was because my standard one was dying and couldnt maintain fuel pressure under boost.
I guess they only cost ~$100, so if you think you need it, got for the 255.

The DeatschWerks DW200 is a popular alternative that is reportedly as quiet as the OEM unit. :wink:

General opinion seems to be that the Walbro 190 is a good quiet pump capable of the volume. The problem with the 255 might be that there are thousands of counterfeits about that are incredibly noisy or unreliable or fail to meet specs.

I just received a new 190 in the post this week - I hope I'm right.

Fwiw there's a dude who made like 250kW on a stock pump and kept up delivery of fuel fine. Whether it's capable of running long term like that who knows, but just throwing it out there.

I think you'd need ID1000 or something to outflow the stock fuel pump. Just not needed

The trouble is that a new stock fuel pump costs £231.60 plus postage.

You can get a genuine Walbro 190 for around $100.

Unless your stock pump is stuffed, spent the money else where, like on bigger brakes or something. I am running 200rwhp on a stock pump, stock regulator, 550cc rx7 injectors at about 70% duty on 98 fuel. Never misses a beat (touch wood). As others have said, the stock pump works just fine.
