I like and dislike your car at the same time . I only dislike it cause it makes me miss my NA! But its super clean and is how I would do a street car just without the AGI bar since I dont fit haha. Will you be keeping the hollow spokes or getting something else?

Thanks track_addict!! I will definitely be getting a new set of wheels this year, I already have a set in mind, hopefully I'll be getting them in a month or two.

Installed a project g window vent for the drivers side, took me roughly about 20 mins to install. This has been one of my favourite mods, it acts exactly like an aircon vent, but without turning the aircon on .. how awesomes that!
Also fabricated my own hardtop side brackets out of aluminium, using a standard jigsaw, screwdriver, some assorted files, primer and paint.
Brake update soon, I'll be replacing the worn out pads with some Hawk HP+ Pads and DBA Standard Rotors.
New wheels are on the cards as well, I should be ordering them next week.
Eagerly awaiting for the arrival of December which marks the day I can legally drive a turbocharged car .. hint hint.

Love my front quarter window vents
My passenger side vent was burning my carpet though... It must act like a magnifying glass, so I gave the vents a quick coat of Plasti-Dip.

I just managed to hop onto the Buddyclub P1 OneFive8 MX5MANIA group buy at $770 (saving of $170) for a set!! I ordered a set in Matte Black, which should keep the car nice and subtle.

So seeing as the university semester is over, I've had time to properly think about what I'd like to do with my mx5. I'm approaching my full licence in 5 months time so I've been contemplating whether to go FI with the mx5, or FI with something else. At this stage, I'm just going to focus on the mx5 and I'll see how everything pans out when the time comes.
Now, my current goal is to lose 100 kg from the car. I love it when I've got the hardtop off the car and when I'm low on fuel, the car definitely feels lighter. To me, that car looks awesome on the outside, and it still looks great on the inside. It still has most of its interior components which is great seeing as it still looks and feels streetable.
Here's a few items I've taken off the car recently and the weight of those items, measured with a digital kitchen scale(items below 5kg) and a bathroom scale (items above 5kg):
Rear seatbelt tower brace, bolts and associated plastic trim: 2234 g
Panel behind the seats (without the bolts): 1391 g
Boot fuel cover plate and bolts: 676 g
Boot cardboard: 132 g
Wheel Jack bolt: 37 g
Charcoal Canister, hoses, bolts, plate (without 1 hose and clamp): 980 g
Factory scissor jack: 1821 g
Factory scissor jack handle: 286 g
Spare wheel: 10.1 kg
Spare wheel screw: 113 g
Alarm wiring (without the horn): 551 g
Old headunit wiring connector: 6 g
Total weight: 18.327 kg.
Pretty happy with the result, the car is still the same as it was before, but without 18.327 kg.
I'm also hoping for an M2 mx5 hardtop to come up for sale on yahoo auctions at a reasonable price. My research tells me that its an FRP hardtop with a plexiglass window, weighing in at 19 lb or 8.6 kg. Significantly lighter than the stock mx5 hardtop and seeing as its manufactured by the M2 corporation it should seal well as well.

Cut holes in the bumper to save weight and lightweight exhaust (@7.5kg i-Concept or Spurt K1 unit).

So that's where my little guy has ended up. I was sad when the owner after me decided to shuffle it off after less than a year... What does it have like 240000+ ks now?
Doesn't look a day over 100000k's. I'm glad to see it being taken care of, given the attention it really deserves.
Funny how most of your initial mods are pretty much what I did with the car in my time with it, roll bar, front lip, Momo, mirrors... and it'd be even funnier if you reunited him with his original hardtop... but it looks like you're taking the car far beyond what I could dedicate to it at the time, I'm keen to see where this is all going.

PPS go FI... you only need about 10psi boost for it to be a little rocket ship

Cutting holes in the bumper won't save you any weight.. Maybe 200g.. Is the reinforcement behind that weighs, but you don't wanna remove that. Unless you replace it with something lighter?
