Looking for source of NB8A coilpack connectors

I have an NB8A racecar which has just got a replacement engine, and that new engine has NB8B coil-over-plugs.

It came with the NB8B harness, so I have been able to cut off the leads that go to the 2 NB8B coils and I want to wire them into 2 plugs that can connect to the existing NB8A harness in my car in place of the NB8A coilpack.

So I am looking for plugs that can connect to these connectors:



Any suggestions on a source please?

As a last resort, I could probably butcher a dud NB8A coilpack to extract the plugs. Has anyone done that?

They look like the 3-way plugs that go on to the NB8B coil-over-plugs?
I have them with writes, chopped from the NB8B harness.
It is the 4-way plug/socket like that in the NB8A coil pack that I am after.
That Ballenger Motorsports site is good, although a lot of connector have no pictures :-(

Thanks for the links, but I think I am after a plug to connect to them.
Anyway, it is obvious they will be difficult to source, so have decided to just chop them off and replace with some other easily available plug & socket combination.

They are not available.

I depinned mine and used CAS plugs (3 pin), as they are from the same series and the tach driver isn't present so only 3 of the 4 pins are in use.

Thanks "timk" for confirming they are made of unobtanium.
As I have chopped the harness it is too late to de-pin and change the plug housing, so I plan to use this plug and socket http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=PP2116.
I think only 4 connections are required for the 2 coils as the ground and 12v are common to both, but using all 6 connections will reduce the current carried by any one pin and so should help reliability.
Is there a specific reason you choose to keep separate connectors for each coil rather than combining them?

I work for a multinational automotive wiring supplier. I did a COPS conversion on my NB8A a while ago and at the time i spent ages trawling through all our component catalogs, including our Japanese parent company ones and couldn't find any part number listing for the matching connector to mate to the original harness plugs. So I concur with timk that they don't exist!

So I did exactly what you have now done and that is cut the plug off and fit an easily found 4 way plug to both ends. (ground, power and the two signal wires) I tied the unused 2nd power & ground back into the orig harness out of the way)

I also added the same 4way plug to the original section of harness I cut off to make a little patch harness so if I ever needed to put the std coils back in, it was a simple plug n play option ( though something I doubt I'll ever utilize)

The link dosent work but if they are the black and green waterproof ones from jaycar they really suck. Cheap and nasty to use a to hard to depin we gave up and chopped the plug off and started again.

Deutch dtm plugs are awesome, really easy to work with etc but you need a special crimping tool. I picked mine up from the states used for about $120. Expensive but has been totally worth it.

The other website linked earlier probably has decent connectors that don't require a special crimper.

I will steer clear of Jaycar and get some quality connectors, but probably 6-way, to avoid putting power/gnd to both coils through a single pin.
