Re: I WONDER WHERE HE WAS GOING?
Thought so but wasn't going to say!
I'm amazed it's allowed to be run - I also note a considerable amount of 'hush-hush' about it unless you are registered

Re: I WONDER WHERE HE WAS GOING?
Insane Speed ?
Really 216 kph this was a pretty impressive number in the early 1980's
Even a nearly 10 year old Stock Maloo Dunnydore is good for 270+
http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2006/commercial/holden-special-vehicles/maloo/hsv-ute-breaks-speed-record-1244
320+ and I would have given a golf clap.

Re: I WONDER WHERE HE WAS GOING?
216, 320, what's the difference?! Immediate loss of licence not to mention at least 116km faster than the posted speed limit.

I know that section of the Hume Highway very well, the section between the Snowy Mountains Highway and the Sturt Highway - indeed it is very tempting along there and the limit last time I travelled it was 110kph

Yeh, having an RS6 doesn't help either. The speed limit of 110 to 216 would only take around 10 seconds, so one red mist moment and big trouble!

Anyone dríven an Autobahn Designed Car ?
I hired an AUDI A8 Turbo Diesel the Camry of big Audi's out to a leisurely 230 kph on the autobahn
was more composed than my old commodore did at 130 kph. Still got 1000 kms out of that tank to boot.
They do big speed effortlessly and will stop and turn at those speeds.
All he/she/they are guilty of is living in the nanny country. You are right if they
have the means for the nice cars they should just leave the country to
visit somewhere that allows grown ups to be grown ups.
It's not a new thing Either Family Car as a child was a 1978 450 SEL 6.9 did
250+ kph easy as and was only a 3 speed auto. Only thing different then was
every k over wasn't a "killer" and no camera's, point to points etc to ruin your trip.

Re: I WONDER WHERE HE WAS GOING?
not a prank by any stretch. Clearly this is gross behaviour and people responsible for such things ought to be interviewed as well. This way beyond blaming a nanny state.

Permanent loss of licence.
Loss of the car.
Massive fine and/or jail term.
Similar for the organisers.

We've all clocked a car at some point in our lives, we just didn't get caught.

I got caught when I did it, .... and overtaken, .... down the main straight at Eastern Creek and at Phillip Island!

Re: I WONDER WHERE HE WAS GOING?
I do that section of the Hume all the time. 200kmh would be a reasonable cruising speed there in any half decent euro sedan. Personally I really struggle with fatigue resulting from the long travel times between Goulburn and Melbourne. There is talk of upping the limits on those section to 140, but I'd say 160 or 180 could work.
