Simple solution to Fit Recaro P P/SPG with 6 point 1989 NA?

Postby Eunos Roadster » Wed Oct 22, 2014 9:40 am

Hi all,

I have been searching a bit in this and other forums to find a solution to fit a Recaro Pole Position with Schroth Profi 6 point harness in a simple, out of the box solution, but it doesn't seem to be a straight forward affair?

I bought a modified Recaro Slider for an RX8 that made it possible to bolt it all together and fit it in the car, but movement to the back is restricted by the eye bolts being in the way and the shoulder of the seat hitting the door and seat belt towers....

I even bought a set of Bride EXA III Sport C with original sliders for NA to see if I can mix and match but even they won't fit with the way I intended to fit the harnesses?

Any help and/or suggestions are very much appreciated to:

- fit Recaro P P in NA on sliders for back forward sliding action
- still retain functionality of factory three point seat belt
- use 6 point harness for track duties

Your not going to like this but, buy a sparco sprint v and fit to factory sliders.

Yes, I know... but its too late now and I refuse to give up that easy

And even the stock seat would hit the eye bolts (as pictured) if I screw them into the original seat belt mounting threads? Where do you bolt the crotch belt bolts to? I have seen set ups where everything is bolted to the seat frame?

But the Bride frame looks as if its a bit flimsy and the eye bolt hooks have to be swapped, I suppose?

Yup either a rail like that or your drilling holes in the floor for eye bolts for the crotch straps.

I tried to work something out for ages before buying a seat and gave up and just got a sprint v

You should look at the schroth instructions for placement of the crotch straps.
