Spreader plates on the back stays are not big enough and only 2 bolts. ADR has minimum surface area and minimum of 3 bolts. Same story on main hoop mounts, no spreader plates and not enough bolts. Also the bolts are not big enough and high enough grade.
So basically, ADR rules are stricter then the CAMS ones, since it is 'CAMS Approved'

Re: Si.G's NA6
Not really being doing much on the car recently. All the engineering work is done, just waiting for the paper work from the DOT so I can go to the pits.
Just been enjoying driving. Here is a vid from last weekend's MX5 club event at midvale. Running on KU31s rather than the A050s. Check the run to the finish - the back is already wanting to get away, stopping after the flying finish was a bit of an issue.

Was watching that last night, the end is the best.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: Si.G's NA6
I have been quite busy recently getting the car ready for the return to barbagallo, a MX5 club championship event (WA). After taking a 5 second penalty, after going off, on the first of the two events at barbagallo, I have a bit of a score to settle with myself. I have been going down the aero path. I have put the front splitter back on the car. I had a few packaging issue, now I have the turbo. I had to alter the mountings to clear the IC pipes
At the back I have made an under tray from the rear firewall backwards and channeled it into a diffuser.
I was hoping to get an APR GTC-200, but the shipping from the US ended up being more than the actual wing, so I had to look locally. I had the chance of a Voltex type 1 copy, but it was super expensive for a copy and not an easy fit. I also looked a another carbon wing locally, but profile was terrible. Being in a bit of hurry and after a bit of research I settled on a cheap ebay wing. For $200 shipped it was worth a gamble. It arrived on Thursday and I was pleasantly surprised, the profile of the 2 elements are decent. I would have liked to make some larger end plates and to move the 2 elements relative to one another, but I don't have time. The slot is a little large and the overlap of the 2nd element over the main element is a bit too much, but is should work as is.
The mounts were in the middle, so I have moved them to the outside to mount it on the ends of the boot lid. Mounting at the edge of the boot lid means the uprights where not vertical, so I took the opportunity to make some raisers and to correct the upright angle at the same time. I had to make the raisers out of ali I had in the garage, so they are not as good as they could be, but they are good enough, like most things on my car.
So tomorrow evening is the event and I will see if all this extra stuff I have bolted on makes a difference. Hopefully it does - watch this space.

Re: Si.G's NA6
Did the aero work? Yeap - took nearly a second off my fastest time on the long track. But I was a couple of 10th slower on the short track. I did not seem to find a groove on the short track last night, just did not seem to be able to hook up a lap. Overall, the car was beautifully balanced in the corners and very stable on the brakes. I might have been able to shave a bit more time off on the long track time, but I had a good time and I did not want to take a 5 sec penalty for going into the sand trap again like the last event at barbagallo.
Had a few other dramas - it seems that new gearbox oil does not like being worked too hard straight away. On the 1st 3 runs I had down shift problems where the gear stick would jam between 5th an 4th, but the issue went away in later runs.
I will post some vids soons.

Your aero efforts are inspiring! I watched a couple of big aero cars on a Hillclimb at the weekend. Some cars are on rails, and some rails are in the air!

Nulon Performance Shift is all I will use in my gearbox. I have used redline, royal purple, castrol and some other 'race' blue stuff and they were all complete shite in an MX5 box and substantially more expensive.

Running in the same group, I didn't get a chance to see it in action. Hanging out for some footage.

Had Nulon in the box before will be definitely going back to Nulon, will give the performance shift variant a go - Thanks.
Here are some vids, unfortunately with the gearbox dramas keeping me a little bit busy, resulting in me changing my Gopro to timelapse mode for the quickest runs on the long track - I only have runs on the long track with gear issues - here is one of them
This is the short track, not the fastest time I did, but I did get some chassis scraping as I hung the rear wheel over the gutter on the exit of the last corner
Comparing the footage from the previous event at barbagallo, it looks like I am around 5kph faster on apex speeds with the aero, I will take a look at the data to get a better picture.
Si.

Re: Si.G's NA6
a rear wing will develop more downforce and do it faster than a splitter or diffuser. What you need to find is the best balance. At high speeds too much rear downforce will lighten the steering (as described by Danny at WTAC). A high angle of attack will give downforce at low speed, but increases drag!
For me I have rang the wing from 15 AOC to zero and the best, based on my other aero is 2 deg. This way at high speeds the front is not too light and there is some assistance at lower speeds. A test without the wing shows similar lap times however corner speeds are lower but straight speeds are faster. What I need to do is get faster through the corners with the wing!
