speedo fix done today on 2 NB's

Postby Silvia » Tue Oct 14, 2014 6:46 pm

A mate and I with a 2002 and 2004 did the "speedo fix" today, successfully it seems.
viewtopic.php?f=57&t=62536&start=30 was our guide and made it possible for a pair of non mechanics to fix their own onandoff speedos. (not the bathers!)
Many thanks to roadrunner for his Garage article we used.
Suggest you mention blocks to lift front wheels as even with the rear raised high room was tight under the gearbox area.
Also a tiny soldering iron is best - it's pretty delicate getting the two wires soldered into those small notches to fix the problem.
Took about an hour each car. :D

8) glad it helped you out. Good idea about raising the front a bit too :DIY:

Hope you didn't spill much gearbox oil, the smell will linger for days
