Hi all, just looking for opinions on quality of the Works Engineering oil filter relocation kit.
Might sound funny, but does it come with a bracket to mount it? or do I fabricate my own?
I ask because it shows everything else in the kit on mx5 mania, but does not show a bracket. And is it a side mount? I'm hoping it is, I am planning on mounting behind driver side headlight.
Also, how does it hold up for leaks?
I will most likely use a small amount of sealant as insurance anyway around the fittings, but just wanted a general consensus.
Cheers

Re: Works engineering filter relocation kit.
Iv got the works engineering oil filter relocation kit on my nb8b, got it from mx5 mania. Its extremely well made, good quality, comes with everything you need to fit including a bracket. Iv had mine on for sometime now and it doesnt leak at all. Plenty of length in the hoses etc. I placed mine pretty much in the same spot as you described, if you have the factory cruise fitted, mine sits just under that behind the driver headlight.
Highly recommend it.

Cheers mate, that's exactly what I wanted to hear!
Does it mount on its side like most other kits do?
Would you happen to have a photo so I can have an idea where is best to put it?

Re: Works engineering filter relocation kit.
I should first disclose that I'm the distributor for Works Engineering, and thanks for the positive feedback speed freak!
I used the parts before I took on the distributorship about 3 years ago. When the oil filter relocator and oil cooler was fitted, no sealant or teflon tape was used as I wanted to test the quality of the machining.
The only leak that occurred was the result of the cloth braided hose not being cut straight, allowing part of the cloth braid to then wick the oil out, but this was very, very little - basically a greasy hose.
About two years (and a number of track days) later, we discovered a leak on one of the fittings which was rectified with a bit of teflon tape. So to answer your question, a little bit of teflon tape or sealer would be advisable, but not needed.
From memory, it comes with a little bracket but the reality is - you might want to fab your own based on where you want to mount it.
Look up my Journey to Apu garage thread to see how it is mounted.

Re: Works engineering filter relocation kit.
Apu, went looking for relocation kit on your thread. Found it, but ended up reading the whole damn thing anyway. Awesome build mate. You have given me some great ideas and there were a few things I was wondering how they would be on our model. Good inspiration mate. Keep up the good work.
I am now decided, I am definitely going to get the works engineering one.

No worries, it seriously is a good bit of kit. I didnt fit it myself, got mx5 plus to fit it for me while it got a service one day, as far as Im aware as long as the bracket allows for it, you can mount it on any angle you want.
The pic below is one of mine fitted, its not the greatest pic but I can take another better one for you tomorrow arvo if you like to get a better idea.

Re: Works engineering filter relocation kit.
Thanks again Speed Freak. Big help.
So contacted Mania, unfortunately works engineering are no longer supplying hoses.
He is searching for a local supplier to get hoses off. But at the moment I am trying to source some hoses. I have spoken to rocket industries re aeroflow hoses and fittings, they seem to be the go.
know they are high quality. I only want to do this once.
I'll let you know how I go.
