Sandown 21 Sept 14

Postby davekmoore » Sun Sep 21, 2014 7:31 pm

Another fantastic day brilliantly organised by AROCA and the MX5 Club. Thanks to all who helped make it happen and to the sponsors.

Commiserations to the two Alfistas whose cars were damaged.

Although I'm still being obliterated by people with normally aspirated MX5s I took the advice of some members of the MX5 Club and did indeed bugger off into group one and finally managed to crack 1:30 - just, and only once.

There was a cost though..... How many laps would you expect a set of front brake pads to last if you had exactly specified the cars' use and the extent to which you had previously worn out pads and rotors, sometimes within a day, and were looking for a solution to last way longer, even if it cost $1,000 in the first place?
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

That Sprite was very well dríven. Only 650kg with a Cortina 1500 non-crossflow so maybe 130bhp at the flywheel? I struggled to keep up on the straights despite having 150rwkw aka 200rwbhp. There's a lot to be said for lightness, as Colin Chapman used to say.
