Mr M, I believe that Grant is trying to educate the way in which you view maintenance.
You have stated your own opinion on the matter and how you will do what the book says re service maintenance. Ok.
Grant has given examples of other parts that can cause a car to come to a sudden stop and yet some of those parts are not mentioned in the service manual.
I believe that grant has proved his point.
What you do with the info is your own business.
Surely you must see the side where Mazda is out to protect themselves more than explain tech stuff in detail. And if mazda's service guidelines were spot on it must be changed at 100k or 5 years, then why is this service period identical to the majority of other inline four cylinder engines?
It's a guideline. That's all.
