Seat belt guides

Postby bruce » Thu Sep 18, 2014 7:34 pm

Hi guys,
Just put in a pair of SE seats into my NA8 (thanks Gavin!)
The seat belts are a long reach back, plus I've got a half cage partly in the way.
Has anyone installed seat belt guides? I notice Carbonmiata have a flash set (good for roll bars too), but they're expensive. Howabout a converted plastic one from another car?
I dont think I can attach the belt to the shoulder of the SE seat.
Ta

If you, or somebody you know, is ok with a needle and thread you could attach a simple strap to the shoulder.
That's what my Mazdaspeed seat has.

If not, there's the option of purchasing one (expensive) or possibly making one.

You could easily make one from 3mm alu, but I'd be concerned about it stabbing you in a crash.
If you can track down some rigid plastic that would do the job.

I think modifying an existing guide would be the neatest way (heat it and bend it).
Who would pay over $70 each for a simple guide, which no one would look at?

Ring either Restraint Technology 1300 658 750
Or APV Safety Products 1800 804 588
They both do seat belts, APV actually make the seat belts for some cars built in Aus.
You may have to buy through a reseller, like Burson/Repco or Auto One.
Pm me and I can work out a price if you need one. I work in spare parts.
Or just buy at your local shop.

Oh, hang on..

What guide are we talking about?
I thought you meant one of these things:

What is the existing one? Mine doesn't have any from factory, apart from the metal loop one on the tower (which there is no way you'd ever bend)

New genuine Mazda. I wouldn't bother with second hand. NAs are too old and you may not know if they've been in an accident.

What's wrong with your current ones?

I just got the webbing changed on my Nc. (Different colour) I went through seatbelt solutions in Perth. Express posted them over and had them back in 3 days

They also service and re-certify the belt so it's classed as a brand new assy

Jeebus, a bit OT!

Yes, I'm thinking of getting a non-5 part and modding it to make a guide.
