DOes anyone have any firm data for gains to behad for Cold Air Intakes on NC mx5.
My car has MX5 plus headers, exhaust and currently puts out 104 kw atw.
Not sure on QLD rules re same whether they need to be enclosed or not, so that may be a factor.
Cobalt, AEM, Begi which is best.

Re: Cold Air intakes for NC
General consensus on the big forum is that a CAI offers little if any benefit to performance.

Re: Cold Air intakes for NC
Best would be Moto East or Tuning done right (TDR)
Both from the USA and both proven to show small gains especially when coupled with a tune.
They are expensive horsepower

Took my AEM CAI off. It swallowed water and bent rods. Sold it.
You'd be lucky to gain 1kW in power. If you want more power, get a tune.

King Tide, low roads.
i have a MotoEast on mine, no noticeable difference in performance, just a lot of noise

Re: Cold Air intakes for NC
I installed an AEM CAI in my Mazda 3 and find 2nd and 3rd rev higher without running out of puff as early as they did before so the car feels faster.

Re: Cold Air intakes for NC
I bought an NC that had a CAI (Apexi I think) and a HKS Legamax muffler as it's only mods and it made 105RWKW on Dyno Dynamics dyno not known for high readings.Revved out much easier than any other NC i had dríven and if I bought another one I would go the same way,but also change the diff to a 4.1 which I did after the dyno run and which transformed the car.
