If you had 10 cars you would not drive them. I know guys with some pretty fancy kit and then they drive as a daily an old Fairlane leaving me wondering. All the Ferrraris and Lambos would be diabolical to live with . Porsches are very popular with the classic car guys and really seem to be a car that does get used reasonably often- they seem to balance the practical for daily use with being exotic as well. Some of the choices make me wonder if people have dríven these cars at all- they might be a little disappointed. I was a bit surprised at tamingas choice - a true classic sports car guy- and the Jupiter has a boxer engine as well!

With unlimited funds, I just assumed that "daily drive" would end up being me taking my Audi R8 to/from the track on my car carrier whereby I would, each day, drive the damn thing to have fun. Not sure about you Mr M, but I'm guessing one's needs for a daily drive would change once you've got unlimited funds!

The m3 or the k swapped na8 were my general duties options.

Mr M,
When I was young my Father and his mate's had sports cars and our drive way was full of them most Sunday mornings, in the garage was a BRG Jowett Javelin, a silver Bristol 402 and a beautiful cream Austin Atlantic that had a taupe fabric roof it was heavy and slow, quirky and even had electric windows.
In response to your '10 car' comment, this is a fantasy game, I have had plenty of opportunites involving cars and now I have my ideal car, it sits, waits (sometimes for months) starts without fuss and makes me smile everytime I drive it, look at it and sometimes even think about it.

My list is pretty simple,

1. Porsche 911 2.7 RS
2. Nissan Skyline Hakosuka
3. ITB or 13B NA8
4. Caterham 620R

If I'm able to get these cars in my garage I'll be a happy man :D

this is weird Taminga- I had quite a bit to do with Jowetts and we drove a Javelin for sometime and I still know 4 guys with Jupiters- . I also had an Atlantic and my neighbours were well into them. The Jowett was a very advanced car in its time.

oooh this is a fun game, I spend way too much time thinking about these sorts of things :P

My garage would be fairly basic. I'd hang onto my current SE but I'd be torn on what to do with it. I do kinda love this thing and part of me says leave it stock(ish) and enjoy it for what it is, but I need some sort of batshit crazy rotor in my life and money being no object - I'd drop a J-port 13b into it. I'd also supplement it with a minter Malibu Gold NA for sunny sunday arvo cruises with the missus. The SE would be for summer night hills runs with my mates and popping obscenely large flames 8)

I'd have to get another shitty non turbo S13 silvia to re-create my favourite drift car. CA18de, basic sus work, modded knuckles and a locker. This would then be an ongoing project with little upgrades and tweaks as my skills increase, eventually leading to a basic RB20 turbo setup, but with a crazy exhaust manifold so it sounds evil :D

I'm a Lambo head so an original Diablo would be had, just for the nostalgia factor. Since money is no object make it a purple SE30, with the Jota upgrade just cause its pretty much the most savage of the factory pre-Audi Diablos. Could see myself attempting to track this, but then again with the Silvia and the 13B SE, maybe I wouldn't bother :P

A yellow Murcielago SV would be on the list too, would be my daily

Another JZX100 Chaser would probably find its way into my heart, with minor mods it would be a more appropriate daily - or I could go to town on it and have another drift car. Decisions.

Some sort of recent E class Merc would be the proper daily. The only car that is normal.

They are probably the cars that I'd hang onto, the rest of my garage would be a revolving door of random exotics, muscle cars, lowriders, euros, shitbox drifters and stupid projects.

MM makes the point about not being able to find the time to drive 10 cars and he's probably right - you'd have to really work on it.
There is a tendancy to hit on one most of the time - like the guy with the Fairlaine he mentioned.
My Father-in-Law had the one below and about 6 others less distinguished, and drove his Fairlaine most of the time, and a turbo Astra.

I see your 308 GTB and raise you a 288 GTO and then probably a 250 GTO

The key is making them all accessible without having to move others to get to them.
Which in this unlimited fantasy idea thing, just means having a 10 car garage with 10 doors on it, so all cars are hop in drive out scenarios.

My list is;

1. Porsche 991 Turbo S - my sunday driver
2. Mercedes E63 AMG S - my daily
3. Mercedes SL500 - wifes sunday driver
4. Mercedes ML63 - wifes daily to fit the rugrats in
5. Porsche Cayenne Turbo - to tow the race car
6. NC Light - ala Goodwin racing - the race car
7. Jeep Wrangler with the works - bush bashing comp truck
8. Jaguar E-type - just so my dad could drive one as he's always wanted one.
9. Veyron - Just because you could
10. my current NB track car - just for sentimentality sake.

Rocky, have you seen the Nelson Racing Stingray?

If they made a RHD version, that would be my #1 pick.

Money no Object? I have spent a lot of time daydreaming this...

In Order of importance

1962 Valiant S series No expense RestoMod, metallic burgundy/purple with fat white Appendix J style Stripes, Type R floor shift, E49 crate engine running triple side draught webbers
Image

and a borg warner T5 5 speed (full brake upgrade) on draglites ... for the weekends where I am driving the family...

like this plus stripes
Image

pulling an old school Cruise Craft wooden speed boat in a matching metallic burgundy/purple with matching white Appendix J stripes
(gawd the period colours were awful... ozi nautical flag of course!... check out the wheel/dash!)
Image

A late model NA (WITH AC and PS) running a supercharger (for linearity) for the weekend drives without the family (Like Sharka but in red) with red ArtWork Dewa dials and white stripes

(might as well zip up my flame suit now)
A brand spanker 25th anniversary NC3 MX5 with the Cosworth supercharger added but externally incognito ... as a daily driver whilst I ponder the ND.

An S3 sedan for the wife...

And a Range Rover Autobiography Supercharged V8 to replace the SUV, because 0-100 in 5.5 seconds is what we need to get my Wife, myself, the kids the two dogs and the cat to the in-laws' farm....

and for $hits and Giggle$, because it was my first car (though mine was never turbo)

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/nerang/c ... 1054258347

That will do me  keep your lambos and ferraris, I would buy a house with a seven car garage near the water....
NC1, Black & Tan, Cow & Canvas
Mazda3 SP25GT, Soul Red Metallic

Mr M,
It is not weird, we are just of a similar age.
When I was 16 years old and living at the foot of the Dandenongs (Regional then), I had a half share in a Wolsely 1500 that did 100 MPH, BMC parts were interchangeable and some of the HP MG's had good stuff, a friend had a Black Wolsely 444, a genuinely underrated motorcar that produced wicked acceleration from still and amazing pull right through until it ran out of breath at about 130 MPH and all the while the hydraulic suspension would pull it closer to the ground.
