Just out of interest what would be the next viable option in gearbox to keep the 450hp?

Re: The carbon fibre time attack/superlap MX5 NB twins blog
I can get a gear set for the 6 speed. But it costs thousands. There are a few options, but at this point I am not looking to make more hp. And hopefully the car will be reliable as is.

Re: The carbon fibre time attack/superlap MX5 NB twins blog
Picked up the motor and bits today. Went to install the motor, but due to not having the engine mounts that I bought for it. Been borrowed...
And the ones I have here don't fit. Left one doesn't bolt up.

Asif you were ever going to get your motor..... it's been 3.5 years in the making.
You probably Photoshopped that motor in the pictures.

It has been running and dynoed. But if you mean the car, well early next year. I need to buy a few key elements. Like a diff. But have most of the gear. The wiring loom is so tiny.

Hopefully I get the engine mounts next week. In the mean time I have started making a seat.

Seat looks interesting Dave, keen to watch the progress.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: The carbon fibre time attack/superlap MX5 NB twins blog
I had kinda forgotten how much work had gone into this thing. The last photo is a great reminder!
Are you running a PDM or similar for the loom? Or is it just the absolute minimum to run the car?

Re: The carbon fibre time attack/superlap MX5 NB twins blog
Not sure what a pdm is. But it has mil spec wiring, the whole loom has been remade. It all plugs into the Oem ecu box with Oem plugs. You would never know it didn't have an Oem ecu.
The whole wiring loom is tiny. Fits in a shoe box with ecu.

Mil spec wiring - is that mil spec the motec subsidiary and just their brand of wiring and bits, or did you mean military specification wiring, which is just good quality wiring done in a minimalist way? Most intrigued .....

Re: The carbon fibre time attack/superlap MX5 NB twins blog
Dunno, I just let him do whatever he wants. I don't care what I have, as long as the car can do quick lap times.
Got stuck into making the seat tonight after buying some more foam.
This is after it had just gone hard.
This is after I spent a few minutes figuring out how I get it out past the roll age.
This is the initial trim. Still needs more cut off, and more filling. I had to cut the left shoulder side out a bit more so it doesn't interfere with gear changes.
