Thanks for the info.

Just ordered a pair - total cost $27.96.

Extra bonus - when I added the bulbs to my cart - they added a free gift:-

1 x OSRAM W5W Sidelight Bulbs.

No idea why (not complaining) - possibly added because I went through the "Select you car/model/year" thingy and had an MX5 selected.

Could be worth a try for others to do that before you add to your cart and see if you also get the bonus.

Just ordered a set, $40 for the NB8B bulbs with a free set of park globes too (which I'd replaced a few weeks ago anyway).

HB3 and HB4 for NB8B?
Never changed mine before, but would like to know how does this stack up with the OEM bulbs?

I haven't used the Osrams before but I've used the Philips equivalent for years. They're just standard size/config H4 and H7 bulbs which plug straight into most manufacturers fittings. Focus and function is the same as OEM. They are twice as bright as standard. The upside is you effectively double your night vision range. The downside is increased reflection and glare from roadside signs and markers, to the point where you can be slightly blinded by it when you run into a whole lot of big signs on country highways.

.. thanks!
I'd like something a little brighter (better light range) but not so much ricey blue/white color which could attract the po-po's.

Will look to get a set and try :)

HB4 for the dipped headlights. If you're unsure of which to get you can put in your make and model and it will display which bulbs are compatible for each fitting (i.e. standard, high beam, parkers, fogs).

the twice as bright is actually not really correct but you will get an improvement over standard bulbs. But with the brighter light you also get a reduced life however that might be irrelevant for many drivers. Phiips lamp will be much the same. If anyone is interested you can get the specs for the bulbs somewhere on Osram's web site. Still sounds like a good deal and all bulbs lose performance over time so your old bulbs are probably down on illumination. I don't recall if both Philiips and Osram make HB3 and HB4- one does for sure. Benchmark- Phiips is stocked by Bursons - not 100% sure on Osram but they do have a website locally.

I don't understand by what measure Philips and Osram claim to be 110% and 100% brighter but in practice they do seem to double the range at which I can pick up wildlife and other hazards.

In terms of life with the Philips Extreme we've had 3 pairs in 3 vehicles for about 5 years with a lot of night driving and one bulb has just failed. So on that tiny sample I'd say a little shorter lived than standard bulbs.

I understand that they make the filament thinner which makes the light bright (and shorter life).
Lucky you have not used Narva crap as in my Outback I was lucky to get 3 months per globe. (total crap and not cheap)
