I'm with you Kevgoat.

I can't wait to see what the Ricer's ( tuners  ) are going to do to them?

Maybe i should get some Miata badges for the NC and SP....

Who knows i may change my view on the "newie" in a few years time.

E90 indicators on the front fender , alfa MiTo interpreted tail lights ,rear view has too much of a BMW Z look about it.

Gee, this thread has really gone to the dogs. :)

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Looking at those two images again, has anyone yet tried photo-shopping the SE Racing Hart wheels onto the ND yet?
I think it would actually work quite well, especially with a white/silver/Titanium paint scheme!

It's not that the ND is a bad looking car, it clearly isn't.
It is just that some of us were hoping for something a bit inspired.
Car styling isn't about 'metres' it's about 'centimetres' and small differences in the size and shape of a headlight, a power-mouth, or a taillight make all the difference to the impact of a design.
The Jag 'F Type' nails it, the ND doesn't. (nor does the FT86)

Greg.

Or, frankly, Simone Bon Bon but with strict instructions to say nothing at all about the car rather than to off-handedly condemn it as he did.

Now that would have generated some publicity!

When he said it was pretty?

Who cares? :?: :?

ND is a sweet design, IMHO, but not as good as this:

These are rumoured specs

Entry level model kerb weight: 1020kg
Entry level engine: 1.5L SkyActiv, 13.0:1 compression, higher rpm limit than unit in the Mazda 2, 96kw

This bit seems a tad weird

2.0L is expected, but won't be part of initial launch.

Pretty close to an NA8. Be interesting to see the torque figure, guessing if the rpm's higher it won't be a lot, assuming that power's north of 6000 rpm.

About 145 Nm I'd be guessing.

As expected, however, there will be a larger 2.0-liter SKYACTIV engine, but our information is it will follow the launch of the initial 1.5-liter MX-5 by up to a year.

This seems to a rumour that keeps popping up

So what is the rational behind why you would want to offer a sports car with a smallest engine you have? Can't be to save weight, as surely a 2.0L engine can't weigh that much more, I mean what, 1-2kg more? Can't seriously be fuel economy, as many larger engine cars will easily be as economical and who buys a convertible sports car and then wishes it was just 5L/100 vs. 6l/100 ??? Can't seriously be cost either, as surely a 1.5 or 2.0 engine essentially cost the same, and any difference would again be marginal.

I just can help but think putting the 1.5 is just a dumb move - what is the upside?
