Dyno in Melbourne that is very experienced with MX5s?
Hi,
Looking for a dyno in Melbourne that is experienced with MX5s. Not after someone that has done the odd one, but looking for a person that has dyno'd heaps and heaps. Stock(ish)/mild application. Suggestions please?
Prefer hub dyno, but will consider regular chassis dyno if that's all the recommended person has.
Cheers.

I recently used NT garage in footscray and was very impressed. They specialize in Haltech. He's not an mx5 specialist though. In saying that after having spoken with him a length on a few occasions I'll be only using him from now on.

a couple of things going on with a couple a couple of different cars. in a nut shell, needs are/could be:
Car 1 - Verify power out of a stock car that based on 0 to 100 km/h times is down on power, and using their knowledge and experience with MX5s try to work out what is wrong. Car is staying 100% stock.
Car 2 - Verify power output, and then consider upgrade path with input from the tuner, based on of what they have verified that works (i.e. removing the exhaust noise / induction roar effect that gives you power on the butt dyno). Might or might not include a new ECU.
Cheers.

Ground up,
Repalce the air filter, check the exhaust front to back, test the cooling system find a quality alignment workshop (see Regie's suggestion) and play with your tyre pressures. If you are seeking HP buy a V8 taxi, our little cars never made mountains of power. If yours in an NA, read Ben Sales garage thread.
Greg.

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Chequered Tuning has tuned BP motors, but with aftermarket ECUs.
They were tuning a black NB, when I arrived in my NA.

All those things have been checked are ok.
Not expecting mountains of power, but it would be nice if what it's supposed to have was there.

I have done this.
Shouldn't be expensive (?). I'm not expecting a couple of power runs, and a yes it's down or no it's ok, to cost more than say $100.
Cheers.
EDIT: The reason I am looking for an MX5 specialist (or at least someone with a lot of experience with them) is so that they know from the dyno run if something is up or not.

Hi Ned,
Might we ask the model and how far it has gone?
Greg.
P.S. Welcome to the obbession.

If it has been regularly serviced it should be just settled in, it will be interesting to read of the results.
Greg.
P.S. Are you familiar with Nitro Dann's work?

Won't be much in the way of testing and results if I don't find the right dyno/workshop! Perhaps what I am looking for doesn't exist (?).

I don't think u will find what ur looking for.
A proper tune (programmable ecu) costs a minimum $550. Extra dyno time is around $150 per hour.
