personally i think that mazdaspped parts are next to worthless in todays market. in 1989 when the mx5 was new, those parts weren't available. but today all those part are available and better quality than mazdas offering aftermarket.
kaaz offers the same diff
cams and cams, 100s available
pistons are pistons, 100s available
plug in ecus and plug in ecus, 100s available
bilstein shocks, probably been replaced already
mazdaspeed bracing, available on yahoo
i thing seperated they are worth peanuts. a few hundred dollars at best. but as a whole package still inside the car, they have value as then they become limited/rare items/car.
if you want a NA6 with a 1.8 in it, then go buy a stock na6 with bad paint for $3.5K and install a 1.8 in it. you get more than $3.5K for a complete rare b-spec na6.

You might be surprised at the value of them particularly in a couple of years.

Good move reallym I sold one rare car 10 years too early! That was a genuine P510SSS Datsun 1600, now it would be 'name your price'
Thanks 'project', I don't know whether you know my car, if not you are always welcome to come check it out. have a drive etc - near Bribie Island which is close to you I think

Yep, the sum is worth more than parts. Seriously consider putting it back to stock and seeking it as the rare find it is. Then use that money to buy a cheaper car and put balance towards making the car competitive.

Project
From what I can find the standard 1.6 NA is 86kW/115bhp @ 6800rpm
I've never been able to find anything really on the net about the B-Spec, maybe because it was built effectively 'pre-internet'. I think Brian F has a book that does give details but have yet to catch up with him regarding this
Where did you get the info on the cams? As a non-tech head it doesn't mean too much to me!

In Japan long before the internet, Mazda did these rough non turbo 4wd things. There is a BF 323/Familia that was 1.6L DOHC that was 4wd. It only was available 88-90 in Japan. And it's engine specs are far superior to a NA6 engine. And I'm sure it the the engine used in the b-spec Stage 1. A few made it to north America, which is normally where the info comes from on hard to find japanese engines.
As I said in my earlier post. In 1989 the parts were awesome, nothing exceeded them. Today lots of aftermarket stuff does. Which is why alot of info of these things had just been lost as the has been zero care factor. Somehow someone asked about the engine, and stupidly I remembered the specs.
B-Specs also come up every now and then on Yahoo JP. And you piece together the puzzle over a decade. I really should've gone to uni.

Maybe I should get it dynoed before I rip it out. Probably cost more than I'd get for the engine though... but I'm very curious what power it would get.
My brother owned a Mazda Familiar rally car. Pretty quick with a group A turbo on it... was run in rally oz a few years by Jackie Dines. I actually have the rear clutch pack diff out of that in my car.

My younger brother ran Telstra Rally in Perth 1993 with a Jap guy in a Mazda Familia 4x4, Greg couldn't speak Japenses and the Jap could count 1-10 in English and he could say 'chicky babe'! Greg said when he would call 'spectator; the Jap would accelerate! Unfortunately that was the year Possum hit the tree and Roger his navigator was killed
Makes sense project

Yeah, such a freak accident too.
I co-drived in Rally Oz for several years from 1997-1999 in a Group N WRX. Great experience mixing it up with the internationals. Running the Familia was too expensive as it was hard to find panels and parts to repair the car.
Project, I will certainly try and keep all the original gear together for my car. I don't really want to build another car as this one is set up great for motorsport, and with a new paint job looks good too. Maybe one day, I'll restore it back to stock.
