When I bought my NA back in 2011 it had a 'cold air' pod fitted - getting the Inspection done for the sale transfer they refused to do it until the pod was removed - I've never bothered to have it refitted as the car is so bloody fast it's not really needed!

A pod filter sitting over the extractors is not a cold air intake.
I wouldn't even consider it an "intake" either. You're just pulling the stock airbox off and shoving a pod filter on.
Illegal in nsw, and I guarantee you will loose power/response/torque.
You will gain noise.

Buy a car from 1971 and you can do what you want, about three ADR's is all I have to worry about, lighting, seatbelts and that's about it.

I can legally run 6 oiled sock filters and have the intake make one of the best sounds in the world.

If the fake is fine. All the Chinese fluid dynamic principles will have been used to modify the product from the original form. They (Chinese manufacturing gurus) would've realized that changing the text on the filter, the height of the filter, removing serial numbers and the colour of the gaskets would have made it equal, if not a much better quality product than the original.

You'll get and increase between 2-3% power/response/torque. Should get a coffee sometime & I call tell you about modding. What was the motive behind putting an NB dash into an NA?

So 2-3% of 80kw? Wow. I reckon that you'll notice that the car is heaps quicker in a straight line once it's installed. You'll probably be lighting up the rears all the time. Should invest in some 16x10s for the rears, but stagger it to 16x6.5 up front.

Hey, you're right!

But from this post he suggests that the generic one is the only knock off and he got the genuine one....

The kit on my desk is NA6/8 specific. You'll find Chinese replicas are the universal ones. Heaps of replicas including HKS too.

Did he get stung paying for a genuine one but actually got a Chinese knock-off!!
