Rally insurance is the CTP extension thing, yeah - cos that's sorted.

That's the one!
Do all CTP insurers charge the same for it? Mine's with the RACQ - $10 a day. I remember someone saying some do it for free, anyone comment on that?

Depends on the insurer. RACQ here, $10.

Regarding CTP Insurance Extensions (aka Rally Insurance) here's an old topic comparing various insurers.
http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=53251
Note that these these things change, so do your own research, and please update the topic if you discover new information. It is certainly worth changing to a no-charge-for-CTP-extension Insurer if you do a lot of events.
No Insurers are permitted by law to provide Rally Insurance more than 30 days prior to the event.
I find Suncorp to be easy and cheap to deal with.

You should be able to change before your next renewal. Check your rego renewal notice for information on how to do it. Don't leave it until the due date.

I think I'll change it post the 15th - already got my extension from RACQ. Looks like it's pretty painless to do it online though.

Re: MX5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY QR 15 SEPTEMBER 2014
Posted for the benefit of those who are not members of MX5 Club of Queensland...
Monday 15th September is Round 4 of the Club Championship: Another great day of driving at Queensland Raceway.
For the uninitiated, this is NOT a race day. It’s an opportunity to improve your driving skills and stretch your car’s legs in a controlled, purpose built environment. It’s you versus the clock, driving within your comfort zone, as part of a small group of like minded enthusiasts, travelling at a similar speed. It’s also a great place to catch up with old friends, or make a few new ones.
MX5CQ track days are really well organised, affordable, and always entertaining. Come and have a try, or come and watch the fun for free.
Do your licence a favour, and get your speed kicks at the track. See you at QR.
For drivers, below is a checklist of the main things you need to do.
Before trackday
1. Don’t forget to pay. The sooner you do it the more you save! Fees and payment instructions are below.
2. Advise the Competition Secretary (CompSec) that you will be attending, and if you have paid. It is also helpful to advise your Car colour and model, and Race and Transponder Numbers, Class and usual Group if you know them.
3. For QLD registered cars, organise your CTP Insurance Extension (Rally Insurance). Print one to bring on trackday, and Email a copy to the CompSec.
4. Arrange a AASA license, if don’t already have one (you can do this on the day if you wish)
5. Fill out and sign a QR Indemnity form, and bring it with you on trackday
6. Ensure your car is in good mechanical order
On the day
7. Bring your paperwork, helmet, ankle-to-wrist-to-neck cotton clothing and closed in shoes
8. 10:15 to 10:45am – Arrive at QR . Time your arrival at the track early enough to prep the car i.e. remove the non-essentials from the car, fit transponder and number, check oil, water, air pressure etc.
9. 10:45 to 11:30am – Arrange QR Indemnity form, AASA Licence and Wristband at the QR Tower. Then Club Registration and CTP Insurance next door in the Drivers Briefing Room.
10. 12:00pm Sharp – Driver’s Briefing. This is MANDATORY FOR ALL DRIVERS, no matter how experienced you are. If required, there will also be a short briefing for QR first timers.
11. 1:00 – 5:00pm - Track time.
12. ASAP after your last run – Pack up and be out before you get locked in!

It will be great to have you with us 'Juicy' hit first name if you like [I'm Roger] - you will have a ball!!
I changed all my cars to Suncorp when NRMA said they were getting out of CTP - great to see that within 2 minutes of my phone call the email arrived with the CTP attached! Paid today so all set!
JBT or Adam can you confirm to 'Juicy' that he will not require a CTP as I would assume being Altona the car would be registered in Victoria - of course that may NOT be the case
Let's make this one a HUGE event! 50 cars and we would still get 6-7-8+ runs!!
