4sfed5 wrote:you dont need load resistors...you just need to mod the flasher relay. there is a resistor in the relay that is a heap cheaper to replace than load resistors.. just open up the relay. Change the "R1" resistor from a 5.6Kohm to a 1 megohm value...done

Can you expand 4sfed5. Location of relays.

the relay will be in the fuse box.

switch the indicators on and what ever one is clicking, that will be the relay you are after

How much force would you need to spice. Was 90% through but no impression on the wire coatings.

Thanks for your help Regie.

Worked out how to do it. Relay is just about the clutch. Remove it and put in the new resistor like you mentioned. Pulled it out to have a look yesterday.

I recently did just this mod to remove 'hyperblinking' indicators from installing LED's.

This link shows you how to locate and remove the car's indicator flasher module: http://www.miata.net/garage/turnsig.html

And this link explains how to change a single resistor within the module to remove hyperblink (some basic soldering is required): http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=335534

The only downside is that if one of your indicators fail, you'll no longer get any hyperblink, which is purposefully designed to notify you of a fault.

Pulled the flasher unit out but the circuit board is firmly placed inside. Any thoughts on removal of the board?

Pull it out with some pliers.

The resistor replacing is the tiny one to the right of the black capacitor.

Maybe, I should get a spare before trying to soldering the new one on. I'm hopeless at these things. Will watch a few youtube soldering videos tonight.

Well, I don't know what I did but instead of hyper flashing, it permanently stays on now after the awful soldering effort. Have to manually tap the stalk to make it blink.

Roadie now over. Installed the glafit HID kit today. Could not risk it failing in the wilderness.

Just need to take care not to get the parts in the way of the opening and closing mechanisms. The ballast is water proof and just need a place to secure it.

Thanks to Magpie and others for their help. $50 to under $100 mod depending which kit you purchase.

Pulling out the headlamp.

A bit worn ...

Ballast bolted down ...

I like it! ...

Still to do the hyper flash mod ... not worth it imo ... so no hurry to do.
