Blank off egr valve

Thanks in advance, is there any benefit in blanking off the egr valve on a stock 2001 nb ?

I did some research a while ago on what the EGR system does, there isn't any benefit of blacking it off. Its only open at cruising speed to double burn the exhaust gas, this lowers emissions and it does also increases fuel economy (that's good hey!)
When you go anywhere near pushing the throttle in it closes off so does not effect performance at all, especially full throttle.
Deleting it won't give more horsepower.
Unless you have a specific reason to delete it, I would leave it alone. Plus EPA/police won't be too happy if you mess with the emissions system.

I removed the EGR system on my car when I rebuilt my engine.

The EGR port in my intake manifold used to get really gunked up.

Also would you not increase the likelihood of detonation recirculating the gases?

So not so much of a performance gain, more so a way to further protect the engine

EGR gets a bad rap from the poor designed systems in the 70s/80s.

But your right, it is still exhaust gas so you do need to clean the valve every now and then.

Also depends what you use the car for too.
If you daily drive or do a lot of long journeys it will help your fuel economy.
If you mostly track/race etc you may as well remove it as it isn't doing anything anyway (closed) at load or full throttle
