It took me a while Vat!

I bought the NB8A February 2010 and went and watched 4 Club Sprint days before I finally bit the bullet, bought the helmet and hot the track on bl**dy Firestone CHEAP radials that were on the car when I bought it!

Since then I haven't missed a single Club track day, maybe a record, maybe not! It's the sheer fun of being with like-minded people who are always willing to lend a hand, pass on advice and provide encouragement

To give you an idea, one of the 86/BRZ ladies [grandmother at that!] asked me could she run, never been to Lakeside before apart from 'happy laps' breakfast etc, but whilst she may have been the slowest last Monday the encouragement and friendship extended to her and her partner had her grinning all day! And she's already indicated QR September she WILL be there!

Yiu nay know about 'weekend morning coffee' at the BP Southbound around 7.30am each Saturday & Sunday morning, never know who ius going to turn up but it's there

I am extending an invite to the 86/BRZ Club who have been supporting us at meets so far this year, 4 attended last week and Zoe with the red GTS is chomping at the bit to join us again and has already booked her place with Doug for the Driver Training pre-event for the paltry sum of $25 [normal is $99]

Funny, on track only a week ago and we do it again in just SIX weeks!!

I wish I could be there this time. Would be good to have some more 86s to chase on a track where the little power advantage would keep them away from me unless I drive better. I think last time I was about a tenth behind Mike Jones, was hoping to catch him but just couldn't quite manage it.

Alright, I'm committing to this. Have bought a lid, and am printing out the forms right now. Will be taking it very easily, first time on track in my own car (the 911 and 458 at Vegas don't count) and the Jaffa's pretty much in basic form. Gotta start somewhere!

I think it'll just be a day of learning how the day goes, learning the track and getting a feel for what it's like to drive out on a track with other cars around. Should buy some L Plates!

I gather there are different groups heading out depending on how seriously you're taking it? What is the day's structure going to be like

Vat

Groups on the day are decided by 'lap times' so if a first timer and you know you will be taking it slower and getting used to the car then the last group is the best - after the first run line up in the order of lap times, fastest out first, that way theroretically you shouldn't have to worry about faster cars overtaking

There will be a few newcomers at QR this time, Zoe [86] doing her second track day and Gill [Gillian] in her 86 as well seeing partner Tony will be overseas!

You WILL have fun!! And plenty will be there to assist and advise as well

Thanks for the quick response. How long are the sessions, and how many for each group?

5 flying laps per session. There are 4 groups, and typically around 40 cars at QR track days, so 10 cars per group. Like Roger said, after the first session or two your group will have figured out which order to run in to prevent any overtaking being necessary.

Min will be 4 sessions, however provided everybody lines up quick and there are no incidents you could get 6 sessions.

Brilliant, thanks guys. I was thinking I wouldn't want to do more than 5-6 laps at time, especially since it's the little fella's first time out and I don't know how cooling, brakes, and the driver are all going to hold up.

Cheers.

Penciled in my diary - should make it
Last time we were there, had so many runs I ran out of fuel, had to borrow 5 ltrs to get to the servo!
Mental note, bring spare fuel - Turbo thirsty!

Heads up guys. Three weeks tomorrow we are back on track at Queensland Raceway. The long range forecast says "high chance" of fine weather.

You can SAVE UP TO $40 if you get your payment in by next Monday, 1st September. That's only one week away, so hop to it.

After you pay, please let me know at compsec@mx5clubqld.com.au, so I can confirm your timely payment.
Also, if you arrange an electronic Rally Insurance letter, can you please forward that to me. But you still need to bring a printed version on the day.

Official information is at http://www.mx5clubqld.com.au/?page_id=35. Any other questions? Just ask here. Some one will know the answer.

See you all there.
