Friendly heads up about shipping from www.mossmiata.com

Postby hejira » Thu Jul 31, 2014 6:46 pm

Their site currently advertises free shipping on orders over $75 made before the 1st of Aug.

On the weekend I made a purchase of over $75 and gave my credit card details, and there was no mention of any shipping cost at the purchase stage either.

The invoice I was emailed after purchase included a charge of nearly $150 for the shipping costs. I've also been told by email that the order has already shipped.

I've sent emails to dispute this to order@mossmotors.com and collinswortht@mossmotors.com, the latter gave me an 'out of office' response, thats all i've got so far.

Today is the last day on this offer so hopefully it shouldn't affect anyone else.

I think people have been caught by moss before with shipping. I'd raise it with your credit card issuer saying the freight charged are fraudulent.

Sailaholic I have to disagree as the fine print on the website is obvious. If it sounds to good to be true then buyer beware!

Then they should have confirmed freight before sending?

Overseas shipping, quotes provided on request :(

Before I do any purchasing (inc overseas) I sort shipping costs out first. Ebay sellers are known for loading shipping rates.

Don't get me wrong I do feel for the OP as if they knew the actual shipping cost they may not have purchased or may have purchased more.

Honestly...how naive can one be to assume that international shipping would be free?

International shipping is never free. Very naive to assume it is.

Yeah that's a trap for young players. I made the mistake once, fortunately they confirmed the pricing before dispatch. I'm not sure that dispatching goods before confirming shipping costs is a great idea on the suppliers behalf though.

Of course international shipping should be assumed as free if its a special free shipping offer with no 'domestic only' or 'conditions apply' wording stated on the promotion.

I would try arguing it out with them anyway. You may at least get a settlement for something less than the original $150. Skype paid call would cost you 25c and then it's just 10 minutes of your time. Just keep it polite but aggrieved.

The words 'Offer applies to orders shipped to USA 48 contiguous states, not AK, HI or PR.' are used on the main page, to me this is domestic and excludes overseas, simple.

Click on the big red banner that says Free Shipping, and there's a big black box with the words Fine Print (which aren't all that small).

AND in the Ordering and Shipping page there's a section that says Foreign Orders.

You can challenge Moss Miata all you want but it was your mistake, it's actually very clearly stated. All you're going to do is waste your time and get more frustrated.
