If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

A standard central locking actuator could also be attached to this rod to pop the boot unlocked.

If you have the factory alarm with the 3rd blue button that flashes the indicators this button can be used to for your boot release
Image

Use a vampire clip to splice into this wire to get your positive to trip the relay that powers the actuator

I drilled a hold in the lock near where the factory boot cable connects

Grabbed these bits off an old bike
Image
Attached them like this

I used the cable nut that came with the kit to attach both cables together

If things turn pear shaped and the button stops working check these fuses hidden under the dash under the steering column
Image
I cut a sheath for the cable
Image

Image
And made a bracket
Image
Earthed the wire from the actuator
Image
Mounted the relay

This was 8 years ago and it still works fine.

The instructions to do with wiring in the release to the alarm is only if you're running the Mazda 3 button remote like this. That system will already have alarm/central/microwave sensor.
