Hey All,
Trying to install a Stebel Nautilus horn in an NB8A.
Where did you guys tap the 12v source in the engine bay?
Installed one in my NA6 in past all ok with the help of Fatty's guide - viewtopic.php?f=55&t=30505
Pics or any info would help.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Alan

Run from the fusebox, and use an inline fuse with a lower aperage than the wire you use.
Big centre post in the fusebox is 12v direct from battery.
The other option is the use the ABS circuit since on the NB8A it's not doing anything.

Pretty sure I just added mine to the same circuit as the 2 original horns, without even bothering with the relay. It worked perfectly for several years until I blew up the car. When it was reinstalled by an auto elec with proper wiring and the relay it failed within 24 hours. My way was cheaper and worked.

Yeah, I currently have it connected to the old horn circuit and it works ok. Thought I'd use the supplied relay just in case.

Re: Help installing Stebel Nautilus horn in an NB8A
The auto elec did put the relay in this time and has wired it with the original horns as well as the Nautilus. LOUD! Great fun when a 4x4 thinks about doing a lane wobble. Usually they're so wrapped up in their own world that a very loud horn seems to make them jump back into the lane, even if they've still not bothered to look for other cars.

It really depends on how muhc current the new horn draws compared to the factory one.
If it's the same, or lower, then there shouldn't be a problem.
If it's higher, there's a chance of blowing the fuse (or melting the wires... but presumably the fuse will stop that)
from memory the horn is on the same circuit as the tail lights or brake lights (forget which) if the fuse blows, those lights stop too.
Just something to be aware of.
