Their username is Browndavis so that's a good sign.

There was some copies floating about awhile ago:

Best thing is to contact Brown Davis and get them to confirm they're genuine.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

That would be them, note that it doesn't include powder-coating so it works out at the same price as normal.

Yes really annoying. Really really annoying. I have to move my seat forward to stop it and that puts me in an uncomfortable position but you get used to it after a few weeks and now it feels normal.
I almost chopped mine up and re-welded it a inch further back and a bit lower but it all got to hard so I gave up and put up with it.
I will be taking mine out soon as can't realty see the use if I'm too much of a puss puss to track it.
They do look cool though.

Mx5 + bars are even worse and put you even more forward. Not really a problem though if your running a Sparco V though. They are really small seats and give you a fair bit more room but Jesus as an everyday seat they are awful.
Sorry about the rant. I'm old and cranky today.

I thought the standard MX5+ bars allowed more room than a BD? The Tall Boy is set forward. Could be wrong ...

Tall version interferes with the seat, short versions and twin hoop don't.

If only someone offered a sort of elongated (ugly) roof hardtop, so we could mount the rollbars further back and higher

I've now had the experience of fitting an AGI bar and an MX5+ tall boy bar. I'm 6'5".

The AGI bar is more difficult due to the long bolts that go through the bulk head and through a cavity to the underside of the car. It's difficult to get the bolt holes top and bottom aligned, and I ended up with extra large holes at the bottom. I like the secondary bracket that attaches under the parcel shelf and supports the rear stays, so that they are not relying only on the sheet metal of the parcel shelf alone. A Sparco Sprint V on factory rails still put my helmet at or above bar height. Seat travel was restricted, by contact with the seat at the side of the headrest/wing. I found that the uprightness of the Sprint V meant that I did not need the full travel to find the right roof-off driving position. I never found the upright position very comfortable, and harness straps over my shoulders went down to the harness mount points at too sharp an angle.

The Mx5+ tall boy was much easier to install. The only tricky bit was getting a captive nut inside the seat belt tower to remain captive. If your car had a factory brace between seat belt towers, you should already have a captive nut installed and this issue is eliminated. When doing the final install of the bar (seat belt and trim reinstalled) the silastic I'd used to hold this nut in place failed, and I had to remove the bar, trim and seat belt and re-glue it. This will happen every time the bar is removed/refitted, unless you have some pretty impressive sticky stuff.
I've got a Sprint V on Garage Star rails with the Mx5+ tall boy bar. The rails, and not the bar, are the current limitation on seat travel. My helmet will still poke slightly above bar height.

The MX5+ bar can be easily complianced in QLD (not sure about other states).

I agree and have done the same - AGI vs MX5Plus and would hands down recommend the MX5Plus roll bar.
