Exhaust Options

So, I have been researching what exhaust to buy for a while now.
IT'S SO HARD. I have a particular taste for a nice deep throaty note. I have been searching youtube and the like.
I have found so many tinny exhaust sounds, some just high pitch. Only a few that have the note I want, but they don't say how they got it.
Does the xforce system sound good? does anyone have a video or decent sound clip?
I think that a thread showing video clips of people exhaust at idle and driving if possible would be of great help to anyone trying to work out what to get.

So get recording and post.

I think either a Borla or an Enthuza would meet your needs. I think there are some recordings of them on the big forum. I have owned both (full systems) and love them both - not tinny at all.

the only way to hear it properly is to drive in someones car- what do you expect from a tinny recording. .There are heaps of threads. Town and Country exhausts Geelong do an excellent cat back system which sounds good and very reasonable priced supplied and fitted.

Racing Beat cat, non-resonated pipe and the muffler here... without ITBs :wink: and I think it sounds great too. Quietly round the streets but has a great deep sound when opened up!

That's different to hear, I usually find a non resonated pipe goes really tinny.
I'll have to look into that.

I agree the racing beat is very quiet until you give it heaps of gas and then it has a lovely deep note. The ITB's add some great induction noise as well.

Had some FAT exhausts HKS Super Drager and Kakimato R, big tips 110mm and 115mm respectively and with a big BASS sound to match. It was fun ... but after 3 days I was getting chest pains (I use the Sydney tunnels, should be fine otherwise).

These exhaust have a hot dog in the middle and are 60 mm in diameter to the main muffler. The increase in 10 mm size from the original loses some early low end response and if you are driving around town this is noticeable.

The stock exhaust is AWESOME, no complaints - don't chuck it. RS*R exhausts are very raspy too. Plenty around and can get one at a good price 2nd hand.

So I have decided to replace the headers for a 4/2/1 HKS item 60 mm into the stock cat into a SPURT K1 muffler 50mm. The feedback from Japan is that this setup will give you the raspy sound without losing low end torque around town. Below is a clip of the set up.

The SPURT K1 @$300 AUS plus middle men cut and shipping. SPURT is an "alternative" non main stream tuner. They have sold 900 of these and just recently released 5 limited units and two are sold (one to me). Reviews below.
