I have a set of Bi-Xenon projector HID's for my NA and I have no issues. The main issue for HID's is when people just fit HID's into the OEM reflector.

Projectors headlamps are awful from both the driver's end, and other road user's end.
The sharp cutoff is the main reason, every slight bump makes the lights look like you're flashing highbeams every 3 seconds.

HIDs just make it worse, because when they do flash other driver's it's even brighter and more of a piercing light.

The best headlights I've ever had on any car have been a 7inch circular insert with quality halogen bulbs.
And guess what an NA6 comes with from stock.....

I can take photos where I have put my ballasts. Be carefull of where you route the wiring as the headlight going up/down may pinch your wiring.

its a really silly idea but folks just do whatever they think is cool or whatever. An NA has 7 in round lamps- the most effective reflectors are round and in good condition they provide adequate lighting performance unless someone has serious problems with eyesight. HID's are not legal- full stop. Said it many times before but there are only a few manufacturers in the world that design and manufacture lighting systems and products are not cheap. My own car has stock projectors and I have no problems at all with their performance. LEDs are also a waste of time apart from drls where they are standalone and carry out a useful function.

Are they ADR approved that is another question.

The OP is asking a question about installing and whilst we can provide non legal advice, argue jump up and down on our soapbox why it should not be done is that helping the OP.

Or think about making a non negative reply and balancing your posts. Like "are you aware that HID's are not legal- full stop? However if you still want to go ahead you can do this....."

HID's are legal provided they stick to the ADR rules...i.e PROPER HID housing, headlight washers, self levelling etc etc

ALL aftermarket setups are far from ADR approved.

Saying that i spent a fir bit of money and have a HID setup in my NC, although not ADR approved its a lot closer than just the plug and play kits. (JDM housings with the self levelling working, OEM RX8 projectors with globes and Ballasts)

If you are after the white light in the NA, try another route and go down the LED headlights. They are a fair bit more expensive but give a great light output and excellent cutoff without dazzling other drivers

Magpie because they are engineered to the vehicle with auto level adjusting and cleaning etc. The cost of doing this for a new model is very significant. No aftermarket maker is selling legal HID;s for headlamps. Regie I was under the impression that Mazda did a xenon headlamp for the NC but it appears as if it was never offered in Au. I still would not be bothered with trying to retrofit a xenon lamp when the projector is a good lamp and it's by far the most common type of lamp offered on new cars.

Yep Mazda does have a oem hid overseas. I've pretty much replicated it with some other upgrades.

Then again I'm a uppie and like the white light. Hence I spent close to $1k making my setup as close to compliant as I can get.

You will need to take your lights out to get the ballasts where I have put mine. They are in the space at the front of the headlights when they go down. You can tie your cables to the same place as the existing cables to avoid getting them pinched. Also take care where you put the relays as I have just replaced one due to water ingress. The water ingress has been progressive over the time I installed them.

You need to purchase load resisters.
A normal 21w incandescent bulb draws approx 2 amps. An L.E.D equivalent draws 0.2 amps.
So the load on the circuit is much much lower. The flasher relay is designed to operate with a certain load, so when you reduce the load with L.E.D's... it flashes faster.

To fix it, you need to wire in some resistors.
Some people buy normal resisters from somewhere like jaycar and figure out how many ohms they need.
Another way is to buy the premade one from an auto shop. Normally made for trailers.
You should be able to track some down on the internet pretty easy too.
