remote locking and chipped key

Postby pezchops » Sat Jul 05, 2014 2:51 pm

hi and thanks in advance.

My question is should i be able to use a chipped key manually without setting off the alarm?

today i bought a new chipped key for a spare on my 2002 NB8B.
the guy said i should be able to open the door manually and insert the key in the ignition and go.
well thats all well and good and the car starts, runs etc ,but the alarm siren is going off at the same time.
i go back to the key guy and he checks out the problem and says the chipped key should work independant of the remote fob, that is it should overide the alarm siren when the car lock reads the correct chipped key.
by the way my original chipped key reacts exactly the same way as the new key.

when i lock the car with my fob i get one BEEP with one indicator light flash...3 or 4 seconds later i get 5 BEEPS with no lights flashing.
looking at my users manual for the security system there is no 5 BEEP alarm/problem referance.
i am thinking i have a problem with the remote central locking security system and the chip reader in the ignition not talking to each other.
i hope my explanation makes sense to you guys
...cheers...peter

thanks.
i am sure my alarm is the problem.
when i lock the door with either key i can use either old or new chipped key to unlock and start the car.
think i will just ditch the sensor alarm...if someone slashes the top to get in ,the damage is done before the siren goes off anyway.

Go and see an alarm bloke before you ditch anything, it may be nothing.
Greg.
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?
