sean, is this the same kit that's been around forever, with the sub computer and extra injector? i seem to recall talk of a new kit from avo a few years back, or at least an update to the existing kit...

being from vic the adr thing is very important to me.

The kits are quite similar, just different turbo and fuelling options. For the pre ADR'd you need to run the sub computer and extra injector (either turbo).
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.

Now have a list of engineers and called my local one today. Was just a quick convo and now he wants me to email him.
Apparently emission testing is free and done by the rta. He said make sure I don't cut anything structural to run the intercooler piping. Well da!
I advised that I intended to fit larger brakes from a later turbo mx5, he said provided they are Mazda brakes as the process will be easier.
I then moved onto ecu's and asked what my options were and he sAid better to keep the standard unit and get it re flashed. I said they are not flash able and he said better to piggyback than run a stand alone. But it's 2014 I thought to myself.
Then I asked how much he would charge and he said round $700 give or take 100.
Will give him the benefit of the doubt and send an email and see what happens but based on the answers to my questions, I'm not heaps confident. I'm hoping the guy was having an off day and there are more on my short list to call anyways. About 15 years ago I paid less than 400 and had engine, brakes, exhaust and ecu engineered and back then the weight of the car was a huge factor, yet today the vehicle weight didn't even come up. Things that make you go hmmmm.

From what you describe the td04 is the turbo you want.

i use greddy emanage blue with black gtx injectores and its been great. tuner was surprised how good it was. however as others have said... its 2014 so a megasquirt pnp is the thing to get now.

If budget is a problem, I would be watching out for a second hand rotrex. I know they are rare but I got hold of one and they certainly transform a 1.6. mine runs on OEM ecu and while it sometimes misses a bit on overrun drives normally - expect to pay for extra fuel and premium. Quiet and no heat problems. The 2013 kit has inter cooler. easy to install (one hole drilled in firewall to mount AFR.
You have to wind it up on the street but had to do that anyway.
