Plastic trim rivet retainers

Just doing a 'little jobs' morning yesterday and noticed I was missing a couple of interior trim 'scrivetts', specifically these things from the door lining and the boot trim.

Whereabouts do people buy these from? It'd be nice to keep them the same as the ones that are there at the moment.

You can buy them from Bursons Autobarn Repco and other auto outlets like Rare Spares etc etc. Buying from UK is nuts when they are sold probably 5 mins from home and the business stays in our pockets . These products are commonly replaced by body shops and repairers all the time. Its also quite common that in some sellers for auto items have a tray of various fixes e.g. U nuts etc and they will sell items by the piece whereas Bursons may be selling per bag - say 5 or 10 etc. Take a sample to compare and colour is probably not important.

ebay- daft- probably a $1 on your way to Mc Donalds and no postage. Have a bit of care for Australians running businesses and at the same time understand where to get things- afterall we have how many million cars and trucks etc in Au.

I was trying to support local business Mr Morlock. I needed a plastic clip and a screw cover on the plastic windscreen cowl. No problem, I'll just get them from Mazda Aus. I ordered the clip in March, the computer showed plenty of stock in Melb. I'm still waiting for it, it's on back order from Japan. I ordered the screw cover at the beginning of June, computer showed plenty of stock in Melb. I'm still waiting for it, it's on back order from Japan. In desperation I took advantage of the MX5partsUK sale this week and ordered them from the UK with a couple of other little bits. All items are in stock and I expect them to arrive in 5 to 7 days and the bits were less than half price Mazda Aus want and shipping is only $10.

And they wonder why people shop online overseas.

ebay, search for "plastic trim clip"
Critical dimension is the hole diameter, from there, look for something that looks close.

Much cheaper than either Mazda or Supercheap, etc and will do the same job.

No inference from me that Gary does not buy local where it works. Gary's point about Mazda is interesting. I do know that Mazda spares service is not all that terrific i.e. reluctance to airfreight and not really attempting 5 star service and some items they just don't supply it there are other readily available sources to customers. From my experience Toyota are much better as an example- they supply items for old models and will airfreight items without additional cost to customer. Mazda also are not offering competitive pricing in Au - witness UK supplier often better price.

A good reference for plastic fasteners is ITW / Fastex and their products including metal fasteners are usually very good. http://www.fastex.com.au/itw-fasteners_clips.html

Bursons etc are likely to be sourced from reasonable quality suppliers- you might have to buy 10 but not expensive and as said earlier some auto outlets will sell singly.

For what it's worth, I pottered down to Repco and found some screw in (rather than push in) scrivetts that have done the job nicely. Popped into SCA on another matter this morning and they have exactly the same stand and set of interior clips, screws and scrivetts from exactly the same supplier.

An additional fastener has quietened the driver's door a bit (especially with the stereo up) and the passenger side grab handle's now secured to the door card, so mission accomplished.
