Last month when we went up we didn't notice any more than normal - but it's not like we're doing anything stupid anyway, so I wouldn't worry.

Interestingly enough, one of the riders in that news article posted above was a friend of a friend - she locked the back wheel of her bike, came off and went under the car, rider behind her crashed into her as a result. At least she was wearing full rider kit, could have been a lot worse without. She's doing ok now though, only ended up breaking her leg (not her pelvis as suggested), last I heard she was on crutches and on the mend.

...her bike? Not so much.
Because reasons.

It's school holidays now, so police are out everywhere. On the drives to and from Lakeside on Sunday I went past 2 bike cops with lidars, 2 cars with lidars, 3 in the process of pulling people over, and about 5 cruising. Between 1pm and 10pm yesterday I saw a similar number. Less cars on the road = less camera detections maybe, so they have to go out and actively look for people doing 3kmh over?

Not that I want to get in a discussion about radars, cameras and speeding fines (re: good/bad, etc.)... But they always come out in force in school holidays.

There's a safety campaign just about every holidays, which usually involves more cops out there - just wait, the evening news will start to have a tally of how many deaths "we've had this break" once the holidays set in.
Because reasons.

Tends to be more an Easter/Christmas period thing, which is a bit of a nonsense as statistically Fri night/Sat morning and Sat night/Sun morning are more dangerous times to be out there.

I've been around Coot-tha a few times in the last couple of weeks and haven't seen the police there at all, even in their usual spot where the road splits into Sir Samuel Griffith Drive and Scenic Drive (where the Legacy Way workers park). Haven't done a Nebo run for 6-7 weeks, did see that infamous black GTI on Gap Creek Road.

Not sure of plans for Friday night. May make the call later in the week.

That's because it was on Wardell Street on Sunday ;)

Assuming this lovely sinus infection of mine stays at "annoying" and doesn't move up to "BLAH STUFF THIS I'M GOING TO BED", then I'll be there.

Just a bit concerned about this Mt. Zero thing.

Yeah, I realise that Andrew. I wouldn't be going if it was a race.

Didn't see any last month, so I think we'll be fine.

Bunch of guys in cute Miatas? Under the speed limit? Before midnight? They'll leave us alone.
