Beats me CB. I watch my oil and temp gauges like a hawk and the temp is rock steady. I also listen for anything after shutdown and nothing has ever been heard.

Hi Everyone, thanks again for your help. Mazda tell me the thermostat is sticking and now I'm waiting for a new one. Apparently they have none in Melbourne!
Thanks again

it usually gets stuck open, did the car throw a CEL light?

thats about the only way you can check if the thermostat is stuffed. its a big job to get it replaced, especially if you are not doing it yourself....

just saving you some $$ Mazda could just be spinning that story to you

No CEL when mine went Regie.

Jackdog, I got my thermostat from Goodwin Racing in the US. Took about a week which was far quicker than waiting 2 months and paying twice as much from Mazda AU.

If you want to see how to do it yourself, look at this link as I did a write up on it.

The car was ready early and picked it up this morning. I've been for a drive and the temperature needle is rock solid below half way. The fan did not operate after I shut down the engine. An expensive fix but at least it's fixed.

Does anyone know much about the Goodwin Racing Roadstersport Q muffler. I'm interested in the new one with the rolled tips. GWR say they no longer ship to Australia and MX 5 Mania's version appears to be the older version without the rolled tips.

Thanks
