ebay turbo kit (complete)

I have found a kit from the states that includes everything i need and even things not included in much higher cost kits on the market.

since i have owned the nb for a while and cant seem to crack the 1.57 at winton i think its time i developed my skills and car to the next level.

just want to know what peoples experience is with turbo kits for the nb8b? And how much power i should expect?

I do realise there is a SE of which i could use parts but its around the same price second hand not brand new and doesnt come with near as many items i need.

How the hell can a turbo "kit" not have a manifold and dump pipe?????

to be honest its a saving grace that it doesn't come with the manifold and dump pipe. they are usually really thin wall material and prone to cracking.

personally i would avoid this like the plague.

if you are intending using this at the track any number of these parts could fail and leave you stranded.

Have you compared your set up to others with stock (ish) power? You could always get driver training, another set of wheels for sticker tyres, better suspension, remove weight etc to get your times down. Throwing money at a turbo wont make you a faster driver.

But i already have semi slicks and lightweight japanese racing wheels with adjustable coilovers.

I have a g27 for my ps3 and have practiced alot so its obviously the cars power holding me back.

As for manifold my mate said he will cut my one up and weld it

Like what has been said before, avoid cheap ebay kits like the plague.
This turbo looks quite big for a 1.8L too, t3/t4 is the kind of turbo you would use for a rotary.
Just buy a 2nd hand T28 or GT2560 ($200-400)and get your mate to weld up a manifold and dump to suit, buy a megasquirt and be happy with reliable power.
Also playing racing games on PS3 wont help you find your cars limits, more track time will.

what tyres?
I am sure there are things you can do that will be cheaper and get your times down + actually improve your skills.

If you have coilovers and semi slicks and still doing 1:57s at Winton in an NB, then it isn't your car that is holding your times back... :roll:

I'd look to spend that turbo money on the weak link residing between the seat and steering wheel.
