DIFFERENT ENGINE NOTE???

I just put my NA6 in for a service and a tune up as it was running like dog balls.
I get it back, and the whole car under accelleration sounds much more growly instead of smooth and linear...
Is this a possible advance in timing?
Can a simple "tune" do this???
The exhaust note has changed to. I had a fairly raspy exhaust at a certain rpm, and now it hardly does that.

Can anyone explain?

Engine is breathing better and sounds more forty.

Not true Emily. Timing and plug gap are part of a "tune up service" and still apply here.

Assuming still standard, have they refitted the airfilter element &/or the airbox snorkel up to the rear pside corner of the engine bay? Or have they possibly removed an old cloth that had been sucked into the airbox snorkel (that's what I found in the airbox snorkel of my old NA6 just after I bought it).

running like dogs balls. now running like it should. so the air-fuel ratio has changed. hence diffence in exhaust sound due to combustion being different.

Also could have replaced a gasket or fixed a small exhaust leak which would change the sound.

Im with chrisearl88 - most likely a physical change related to exhaust. You may also want to check for exhaust / manifold cracks that have suddenly become more pronounced due to tune.

Wow didnt expect such a vast response!

I havnt got the invoice off the mech yet, as I picked it up after hours...

I most likely would assume that a air filter was replaced, as it has definately changed tone from the front section of the car.
So there wouldnt be any form of timing change from cam gears ect????
