Offset and wheels for '90 mx-5

Hi guys i was planning to get a set of SSR professors sp1 for my mx5.
And wanted to get your opinions on fitment. Can i run a staggered setup and what is the max width i can get. 9's in the back and 8.5s in the front?
Since stock is +40 all round. what offset can i play around with? I want the wheels to be out just a bit.

Fit is a pretty relative term.

Quite sure you can only run maximum 7" width in front and rear legally, without engineering certificate.

Not sure if staggered setup for an FR does any wonders with an MX-5 performance wise. It should only add weight if you're stock.

^nope. Check the NCOP. It's pretty clear. Max rim width is based on a percentage increase of stock tyre width.

Staggered with more rear rim/tire will generally increase understeer.

26mm=1 inch, and the NA MX-5's largest optional width was 6 inches right?

That is a 2003 document. New Code Of Practise (NCOP) for light vehicle modifications has since been introduced.

A quick search and it looks like that might be that current legislation in NSW. Not surprising there is a National document that is not used nationally :roll:
