Leather seat restoration or replace...

+1 for Leatherique
BRILLIANT STUFF - if you follow the directions and allow the rejuvenation oil to penetrate well then very easy to clean and maintain.

I think that seat is too far gone, the stitching is letting go. I'd be seeing someone about fixing the while seat. It actually looks better than my NA seat. I'm of to discuss options for repair of mine on Monday

The Leatherique is brillliant. Have a look at its website. The fillers supplied will repair all those cracks. Dyes and refinishing products they suply will make the repair invisible. But if the stitching is gone, you will need to remove the leather cover ( takes about half an hour) and get it restitched to the fabric backing pad. There is nothing complicated or expensive about doing this. The cover can then be easily reattached to the foam/ frame...simple but requires patience. Metal hog rings are used, but these days many successfully use plastic wire ties instead. I did and have had no problems . I recently had a quote from a trimmer to repair one seat at $600!!! I bought covers from the USA and did both seats for well under that in a weekend.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

The seats really are too gone to just use a rejuvenator.

Got a quote for $750 a seat to recover with new foam. Thought it was a bit steep.

So on the lookout for some way to hide the damage, might go with sheepskin!

If anyone knows a good upholsterer in the Brisbane area, I'd love to know.

I had my Mazda 500 seats rejuvenated professionally -filler in cracks etc. cost a packet but only lasted about two years then the stitching went.Not even sure if it was real leather. If I had to replace my mx leather I would go for the leather covers rather than repair.

I went to a local trimmer, quoted around $2000 to completely redo my tan le leather seats, in quality leather. Ah, no thanks

Not blackmams. A local guy who talked them down, reckons he uses better leather. I know the leather he uses is good as I used to shop where he buys from. As yet I have not contacted blackmans and have only looked at their website which does show good work. I'm now considering other seats, perhaps something like a bride or Recaro which will be better from a support viewpoint than my NA seats. May also be cheaper than recovering. I'll then leave the factory seats in my shed........

$2000!

I was quoted $1500 for the pair; replacing the front facing leather and foam, and leaving the rear/under facing vinyl.

Not keen to spend that kind of coin, so looking for other options now.

I'm in two minds, would like to have original seats but would also like seats with better support and comfort. May go and talk to blackmans.
