The Holden Sporting Car Club will be holding a Bitumen Khanacross at Willowbank on this weekend, Sunday 29th June. It is run on the various bitumen access roads and car parks on the south side of the drag strip.
This is really fun, low cost and safe motorsport. There will be two or more short courses up to 1.5km long, comprising short straights and tight corners, to keep speeds down. If your car is fast you might see third a few times. Cars run individually against the clock, from a standing start to stopping in the finish "garage". Penalties apply for wrong directions, or hitting cones or flags. Depending on numbers, and how smoothly things run, you could expect to get up to 8 runs in a day, which is very good value for your $45 entry.
A CAMS licence is required. Other requirements are similar to MX5CQ track days... Cars need to be presented to scrutineering in safe-to-drive condition. Neck-Ankle-Wrist low flammability clothing and footwear is required, and a helmet must be worn. An in-date fire extinguisher must be fitted.
The HSCCQ are a friendly bunch, and it is quite family friendly, with lots of Dad, Mum and the kids participating. It's a very nice way to enjoy a winter's day.
You can enter online at http://www.hsccq.com/upcoming-events/hsccq-khanacross-rd5/. You can also enter and pay on the day but if you plan to do this please email Keith Butcher a heads-up at butchy_hsccq@tpg.com.au

I hope to see a few new fives out there.

I'll be there helping out but not driving, unfortunately. GoGo and I are temporarily banned from going out together

Below are some sneeky ppeeks at the courses being developed for Sunday.
There will be one faster, more open course in the bottom area.
And there will be one much tighter and twistier course in the top area.
Each course takes about 1.5 minutes, depending on how fast you are, how many mistakes you make, or how many times you get lost.
But there will be a sighting convoy for each course.
It is hoped to get 4 runs at each course (eight total). Normally you would alternate your runs between the two courses.
