As per zero00's comment. As are going into a new financial year, expect a decision after July 2014. Note that facility hire costs have increased by 10% for 2014 (and have increased each previous year) while entry fees have not changed for about three years.

It will depend on how well the half days are subscribed - the last half day event ran at a loss. :frown: Of course we need all those people who want a full day at half day prices to support the half days to help create a surplus. So organise a day off to enter this event. :)

Yeah... I can't really justify a full day off work for half a days racing. I would be willing to pay more for a full day.

But I'll look into this half day one and see if can logistically go to work in the morning and then head out.
Cheers,

I need to take 3 days off to attend any track day, so full days for me only. I could leave Blackwater at midnight, race the afternoon and then be back at Blackwater by the following morning for work, but I doubt too many people would want to share public roads or a race track with somebody who has had no sleep...

Plohl I would prefer full days as well, but again it is a numbers/cost issue and people who use their car as a daily may not want to subject it to a full day on the track. A solution could be to offer full day or morning/afternoon sessions, however having numbers to make it cost effective would be an issue.

Interesting that the last 1/2 day was run at a loss, was that at QR?

You mean like time attack? Not sure that would work with the club... they don't like starting on time haha.

For reference, the time attack series costs $310 for a full day if you're not a member. http://www.timeattack.com.au/pricing.html

Yeah it was. It was the day after the Japnats weekend. QR is sparse at the best of times though.

plohl possibly like Time Attack :) I think that the Time Attack pricing is quite fair to be honest.

Paul Stokell full day at QR is $395 and you get about the same amount of laps as a time attack day (min 6 x 5 laps of the clubman and 6 x 5 laps of the sprint).

However the MX5 Car Club prices cannot be beaten and well worth attending, so support these and save even more when a full day is done at half day prices!

MX5 Car Club $125 (full/half day)
Time Attack $160 (half day) $290 (full day)
Paul Stokell $240 (half day) $395 (full day)

Just another thought. QR are offering general practice in the morning and some sort of sprint in the afternoon for A$200. Something like this would give drivers the opportunity to run a whole day for 200 or the sprint afternoon for 125.

Anyway, car 10 and 101 will be there. 8)

The practice/sprint days are good value dollar for lap, can't beat it. As long as people realise that practice is untimed and the track is crowded. Groups are often 25+ cars. Although you can get clean laps in if you know what you're doing, you won't get as many as the sprints or club days. Last time I went to lakeside I entered both, and used the practice to learn how the new coilovers felt before trying to set a new Pb in the sprints.

I'm yet to find anyone offering the value that the mx5 club does, 9 sessions in a half day for significantly less than the price of a 5 or 6 session half day elsewhere. Also the benefit of having quite evenly paced cars makes for a lot of good laps for most drivers too. As long as these keep running, I'll keep coming. Looking forward to it.

I agree with JBT that the numbers were not good for QR in May. It's hard to explain to some people why firstly track days are on a Monday and not a weekend. Simple - track hire costs

I think I have managed to get another 4-5 newcomers to attend Lakeside, that could be more and of course the payback with a good attendance is of course maybe a full day for Lakeside towards the years end - there will be a couple of ladies attending for their first run so please make them welcome, one is so excited and nervous that I said 'You can park next to me in the pits'

I'm not fast, never have been and never will be, it's the fun and meeting up with other MX5 drivers for the day. To be perfectly honest, without the 'other makes' it would be very difficult to do the days with sole one make only. The support we get from that band has been and still is tremendous, and I'm sure we all thank them for their support!

To get prepared I am doing 'breakfast laps' at Lakeside 13 July in the 86 - nice chance to blow the cobwebs out of it

SEE YOU ALL IN JUST OVER 4 WEEKS

Surprised the last day at QR ran at a loss, seemed quit busy. Pitty there isnt more club days at QR though, that was my first track day with the club and had an absolute ball running with cars of similar power and lap times. I know alot would prefer Lakeside but Im sure there is alot like me too that would prefer QR as its a safer place and if your talent runs out or if something does go wrong your not bound to hit a wall.

Anyway hope you guys enjoy the day :) Ill be at the next QR day.

I prefer Lakeside, it's a challenge and gets the heart pumping [thats why maybe I look red in the face!]

I'm paying $30 for 30 mins on track in the 86 with 29 other cars, that's quite a few! Still, even just a few laps will do me and then enjoy breakfast :MOCHA_LES:

i've only had 1 track day this year and that was a QR sprint day on a saturday  , Francois and i hunted each other out and met speedfreak on the day with a couple of other 5s running the group of people is different and still a good day but different to the club day where your matching mates and cars alike and sharing all the stuff that you do.

bad news about the loss at the last run, its tough to get away from work at the moment and this is probably the case for most, I must say though a 1/2 day track day i need a A/L day it may be worth considering a full day cause the net affect with work is the same the costs would be only retrospective Hopefully.

Hats off to the JB , mx5 committee and the members to keep the costs down over the last few years and keep the program running

The motorsport is such an important component of the mx5 community as its why i explored and purchased it would be sad to lose what a great program that has been created by the club and proactive members like Roger,

Ill try and make it to the 26th

Pretty certain Gary will be at this one. Not sure about myself.

Are any of the Lakeside days for the rest of the year full days?

I'd be hoping if we get excellent numbers for July & QR September that the Committee would look at that - over the past couple of years the full day at Lakeside have been very well attended

Not my 'call' but i'm pushing to get as many as possible for July - so expect to see maybe a half dozen 86/BRZ's
