They are in! From the short drive home with the old suspension and bits and pieces in the passanger seat they felt great. Literally straight out the box, and onto the car. I set the damper as specified by mca. Ride hight is perfect in the rear, needs to come down about 5 to 10mm in the front though (I will contact mca about how they want it done, spring seat or lower collar) going for a proper drive tonight and will see how they feel :)

Yeah if you want to feel what they are like you are more than welcome to have some seat time to get a feel for them.

Thought so :) will play with height at a later time. More concerned with breaking them in and listening/feeling for any issues

Yep the gold series is still the same super high end hand made stuff. Red and blues are mass machined with varying levels of fit out done in the workshop.

hey revhead, how is the ride comfort? I was originally going to save up for some Ohlin's but would probably be overkill, after something comfortable for daily driving but also capable for the occasional twisty.

Really good. Very comfortable, no jarring or spine breaking like cheaper coilovers. Even over speed bumps it is very smooth. Handles great. Haven't given the car a proper driving though as I still need to service it, and I need to fix a rather embarrassing exhaust rattle (waiting on system to arrive) so far though, very impressed!

Thanks, revhead, for starting a very useful thread. I've separately come to the conclusion that MCA Blues are right for me - a 90 NA used mostly for drives in the country on less a than a perfect roads - and am planning on buying a set in a month or so.

When you get the opportunity, a report on how comfortably they handle B roads would be appreciated!

I'm in very much the same situation so would like to hear what you think too! :wink:

I suspect with my less than racetrack smooth driving surfaces and already larger sway bars on the SE I'll be wanting some softer springs than most seem to get with the MCA Blues though......

I have the mca reds with 9-6 spring and they rival ohlins for comfort. More comfortable then my king springs and konis were. Trust the suspension experts. Also you don't need stiff sway bars if you have stiffer springs.

Thanks sailaholic but, I can't justify the extra cost of the Reds over the Blues for my usage and I already have the the larger sway bars standard, hence why I'm wondering if I should be getting softer springs than the 9-6 or 8-6 combination that most have...... When I'm ready to do something I'll get in touch with MCA directly for their thoughts. :wink:

9/6 is a compromise as it is, they're not quite stiff enough for track work from what most people say. My NB is 11/7, as recommended by Josh from MCA. Wouldn't want them any softer even on the street, could maybe go a little stiffer for track work but even then I wouldn't go far. the 9/6 and 8/6 off-the-shelf kits are all less than ideal for track work specifically because they compromise for road use, so going even softer would surely be a step backward.

They are very comfortable on average condition roads and are an excellent product which I am happy with.

Don't get me wrong though, they are not like driving on clouds. If you hit a pot hole or go over rail tracks the car takes a beating which you can feel.

What you gain in an excellent product definitely out weights the minor discomfort on the harshest of road conditions.
