I think the colour will make you stand out in traffic which should be a good thing. I like it but wouldn't copy you if that makes sense.
Good on you for being different.

Re: Orange - Yes or No?
Yer ,not a members car yet ..but will be .. I found it last week on gumtree and it was one of those mx5 ,s you see with all the colour flaking off the Mazda primer( there was a paint fault around 1990 with electro static primer )... So I knew this was a good original car.
I got a rush of blood and BINGO it's orange ,could of done it the original silver but thought it would be ok orange ..
I took it out the booth and I now really dig the colour..
I will slam it down now and put some deep dish retro rims on it ,cruise around in it for few months ,then pass it on to someone who wants a car already done
As I don't think I can add another car to the herd !i will try but don't count on it ,if you know what I mean

Re: Orange - Yes or No?
With the right amount of black, an orange mx5 looks awesome. Just take a look at the MX5 Super 20,

Re: Orange - Yes or No?
im glad people voted Yes. The 1991 i just bought is orange! Though as a lot of silver/chrome trim. Going to change all that to black - as well as a black hard top. I nicknamed her Tigger after winnie the pooh character .

Re: Orange - Yes or No?
I vote yes to orange, but no the the black wheels, I just can't come to grips with black wheels. My other car is a yellow xr6 turbo. I now love the bright colours.

Orange - Yes or No?
I'm a mopar fan from way back so adore hemi orange and associate it with cool cars.
Ford focus electric orange would be my pick if going orange on a mx5. Same as my mini.
I always hated black wheels too but now I have a set they have certainly grown on me.
Good work on the spray job too!!!

Re: Orange - Yes or No?
Yep thanks for the comments ,, but after 28 years and about roughly 70 odd mx5 repaints . I think I have finally got the hang of it .i still enjoy it ,but luckily I have a lot of variety now with the carbon bikes ,motorbikes and drone planes and boats ...
So that keeps it interesting !
And with the downturn in the economy I am happy to remain busy and have constant flow of work

A general repaint is 2500 ,but you won't win a trophy at summernats, and take about 2 weeks.i only use standox or glasurit paint
