Well folks im dropping my hardtop off tomorrow, hes not officially open for business yet but he's getting a head start on mine for me. Should be picking it up in a week, and thats only a week turnaround due to my work schedule, he may be able to do it faster, but even so I think a week is a fairly reasonable time. Will let you all know how it goes!

Hey all,

So as promised, I picked up my hardtop today from the bloke who painted it for me. His business name is SharpLine Paints. He's currently located in Moorebank just off Newbridge Rd near Pedders Suspension. I am extremely happy with the outcome of the paint job, perfect colour match to the mudflap I gave him to get the colour right, and the finish is completely flawless. Couldn't be happier with it. Here are some photos as promised:

Looks fantastic and am very pleases with the outcome for the price I paid, which was about $100+ cheaper than any other quotes I got. If anyone is interested I am able to pass on his contact information. Turnaround was pretty good too, I dropped it off on a Monday and he said it would be ready by Thursday or Friday if I wanted to pick it up early.

Glad to hear you're happy with the result.

It's probably too late to suggest that it would have looked better in black though

Haha well it was plasti dipped black before the spray, I didnt mind it, but I really like the red on red :grin:

I got mine painted black for $350. Worst mistake I've made with the car

quality was worse than a home job. I was reassured and he showed me his work prior to me agreeing and it all looked immaculate.. But then my roof happened. Was so disappointed..

I doubt it. The guy I went to was in Lansvale (not Hume Smash Repairs though) and I'm sure if anyone else went there there would be a post about it for sure..

my guess is that it will not make any difference in cost. Painting is very much about preparation - is every one the same or does the one needing far more work affect the price of the others- and if the colours are different that means a pot change etc. Modern paint- its gaining to outlast the car probably. The job looks excellent.

Extra discount on an already great price lol ....

Mine cost the previous owner (not me) over $900 but included window out and all seals replaced.

I haven't used it for over eight months. My wife hates it because it takes away the option to drop the top anytime ....

Once you start replacing those parts, particularly if you go through Mazda, the price can skyrocket.

The rear window moulding (not the seal) is $130-140 from Mazda, but an automotive glass shop will charge you 1/10th of the price. Then there's the rear window seal, the side seals, the rear protective edge.
