Hi there to anyone reading this,
I recently bought a 2003, Series 3 NB. It's painted in a burgundy colour that has a fine metal flake, but what the exact name of this colour is unknown to me. Can any of the diehards out there let me know what the proper name and code of this colour is please?
I asked the previous owner and he didn't know either. Thanks for any help sent my way.
Cheers, Wayne a.k.a "5isalive".

Re: Colour Identification Please.
It looks similar to Mazda's Radiant Ebony, but radiant ebony is usually a bit darker than that.
If you look at the build plate it should have a paint code, you can google that code and see what comes up (for example, my twilight blue NB is code 12k)
Remember that the USA often had different names for the colours than we did, despite it being the same colour. (We had Innocent Blue, I think they had Electric blue, same colour, just different names)
edit:
Looks like it may be Garnet Red.

Re: Colour Identification Please.
The paint code should be shown on the VIN plate.
It's probably Garnet Red Mica (25F). Possibly Mahogany Mica (23E) or Merlot Mica (A1Q).

Yep, look for this plate in your engine bay. It's on the firewall, just above the clutch master cylinder. You paint code will be stamped into it.

Thanks guys,
It's Garnet Red Mica (25F). One question answered. I'm sure there will be more coming your way in the near future.
Thanks to all who offered up their invaluable knowledge. These forums are definitely a great help.

Re: Colour Identification Please.
Be aware that the VIN tells you a lot about vehicles- any vehicle- things like what options, date manufactured , diff ratios , where built etc. Old Holdens of the 70's use to have a huge range of options and these were shown on the VIN. I have recently been looking at a VIN and the maker apparently had 2500 variations on one model- staggering- but that included variations all around the world. Whenever one buys spares from a dealer they often ask for the VIN- so that the spares guy knows what schematic to look up.
